I am having so many problems with my poor piggies. My male was neutered last week and on his check up today he has lost 100grams :-\. I have been given a fibreplex for him but I'm so worried. He is so depressed and sending him a pregnant pig for a couple of hours a day hasnt cheared him up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Why a pregnant pig for company. I don`t see the logic 98)

If he is ill he needs peace and quiet.

If he is loosing weight he might not be eating, be dehidrated and he might have an infection.

If he was my piggy I would keep him warm (but not too hot) and use a clean seringe to ensure he does not dehidrated.

Put him on a fleece and ensure his bed is kept clean. However, he needs bactieria in his gut so its ok for him to use his own droppings.

See a specialist rodent vet pretty quickly - not any old vet.

If he wa sonly neutered ;;ast week he is still capable of getting a girl pregnant hence an already pregnant girl is a good choice if he is pinig for company Andersons O0

When our boys were castrated I syringe fed bio lapis kept them on clean fleece and monitored wieght.

Is he on any antibiotics at all?

Is he eating and drinking properly?

does he have any swelling around the site of the operation?

Is he sore or hot there?

If you are worried get him back to the vet as if he is losing weight best to know what the problem is.

The operation site is fine and he has been vet checked. He's on fibreplex and he seams to have perked up a bit with it. I will weight him again today. I put a companion in with him to stay until he can rejoin the group (some young unpregnant females in there so cant go back now). Not sure if he's drinking but the bedding is a bit wet each day so he must be.
