poor Artie got nipped

poor gentle artie had his nose nipped during the night by maniac teen floo who I might add is half arties size, so he got whipped out and i put gentle little scooby in with artie and floo is in with the bigger boys scrappy and jinx who wont take any notice of his big ideas, mind you floos face when he saw scrappy coming towards him was a picture , but he only wanted to sniff him out then he laid down in front of him as if to say now you just give me no nonsense,
can any of you read your piggys minds and thoughts ? I'm sure i can some more then others
 
You know how cats and dogs etc have a submissive position or thing that they do to let others know the aren't trying to be dominant.... do guineas?
 
Aww poor Artie. Glad it's all sorted now!

I reckon piggies do have a bit of a submissive side Bev. I mean Jin was gentle with everyone including the babies and girls and he could be left alone with them and not bonk them (ok not really submissive). He would also put Tonic in his place if he was being a bit naughty!
 
artie did'nt want scooby with him either so he is now on his own, I hate to think he is unhappy being with another piggy but equally hate him being alone,
my dogs have a submissive look, max is boss dog or alpha male I believe its called and if max gives charlie" the look" charlie shrivels, is the best way of discribing it, and skulks away, leaving max practically smiling, and they are brothers from the same litter you would think they would be equal !
 
Its tough when they mess it up for themselves. And I too worry about lonely piggys, though I do think there are pigs whoa re happy on their own, Bubba seems equally happy alone or with company though he has put on 5oz since he had a pal.Wheras other piggys don't like being alone at all, like Rainbow. He is soooooo lazy and sad alone. But doesn't get on with any other piggys. He is currently 'piggy in the middle' in my set up so he is surrounded by piggys with just mesh cube walls seperating him (and his teeth!) from them. He rattles at them but he does love having them around. I wonder if thos kind of thind might help Artie, if nobody else is compatable/too boyterous for him maybe he would be ok next to them?

I think you do kind of get to a stage where you 'read their minds', I reckon you just get to know their character so well you know what they will do in a situation, or what they might like. I had a reading done on my Rainbow by Lorna at Greenfields rescue, who does a bit of like pet phsycology/behaviouralist stuff. It was really ineteresting.
 
Totally agree with you Susie.

Tonic was on his own for over a year after Jin died, but he was fine on his own. He's now got Guinea with him as you all know, and sometimes he has this look on his face like 'go away Guin, just for a bit, I want some peace!' LOL
