My guinea pig has been losing weight and noticed that his poop has become smaller. It actually looks like coffee beans. What could cause this? :(

Please have your piggy seen by a vet.

The weight loss and small poops are because he is not eating enough hay. What is causing him to not eat enough needs diagnosing and treating by a vet.

Please immediately step in and syringe feed him a recovery feed such as critical care. If you don’t have any/until you can get some, then can mush up his normal pellets with water and syringe feed that to him.

Please ensure you weigh him every day so you can adjust the amount of syringe feeding accordingly to stop his weight loss at each daily weight check. Poops will not go back to a normal size until a few days after he starts eating enough. Poop output is 1-2 days behind food intake.
