So I made a little play place for my little piggies where I can hang out with them and bond with them, but they always leave behind so much poop and pee.. Is there a way to train them so that I don't have this big mess after just wanting to spend some time with my lovely girls? ") I have them playing on towels but its just such a big mess.

Err, yes and no.

It depends very much on the piggy in question. Some take to potty training (mostly in terms of pooping rather than peeing) others just don't. You have to be prepared to live with poop pretty much everywhere.

You need to start trying to train them in their cages and play areas. One trick is to use whatever it is you want them to poop on to cover the whole pplay area (newspaper, toilet paper etc.). They will happily poop away all over the place and that's fine. Do this for a couple of weeks. Then reduce the paper or whatever to a smaller area in a corner where you want them to poop. This MAY result in them just pooping in that area because they're used to pooping on that surface. It may not.

You cannot really train them to hold it. Some naturally will. They are fairly intelligent animals and have their own personalities. Some will like to keep their cage clean and choose to poop in one area, others are a lot less discerning (we have one of each!).

That's about the limit of what you can do. Best of luck and as doggylovin says, welcome to the poopy world of guinea pigs :)

Oh how I wish there was!

My boys seem to have a contest going as to who can poop the most :)

When they come out for cuddles I sit them on a lap blanket and spend more time clearing up pop than anything else, they also seems to decide to wee whenever they come for a cuddle too - not so much of a problem with a waterproof lap blanket unless they tread in it :(

Unfortunately, despite being utterly gorgeous they are little poop and pee machines and I have tried bringing them in at different times of the day to see if that helps but they still cover everything in poo!

In their hutch they have two places that they poo so I generally spot clean that daily to prevent it becoming too disgusting before clean out day.

Sorry I have not benn much help but I think it may be something you just have to get used to :)
