in our school we have altleast 30 polish pupils. now in lessons we have signs and words in polish.
the polish laugh at us and say things about us in polish (i hav a buddy who translates)
and they refuse to mix in and learn english. @ breaks they have they're own hang out
and they're own gang. in lessons they are put in top sets when they wont no what the teachers
talking about.
they have they're own polish teacher, and own room for polish pupils.
i have nothing against them, i mean they came here for a better life
but can any1 else see summit wrong with this accept me?!

i no 3 of them

kinga - she was the first one, shes really nice and was bullied wen she first came by the evil ppl :( because they
didnt no wat there we saying. they'd ask her rude questions and the only words she knew were yes and no
you cant sorta guess wat happened next...

martin - he translates for me, hes pretty cool in lessons. and he talks 2 me

micheal - he doesnt like me and he takes the mick out of my friend :(

kinga didnt invite me to here birthday party thought lol ;D

mum has a best friend whos Polish ( hes gorgeous and a total sexbomb..*coughs*) but anywayyyyyy him and some of his family worked with mum for a while, they always had dinner all together etc and maybe its because they understand what each other says and have their convos in polish rather than awkward convos with people that try to understand polish

My OH oops ex OH is Polish! totally different culture to us. Very nice people once you get to know them, but Poland isn't the same as us. The kids will just prob need some time to fit in. I could teach you a few words but you might get expelled!

Give them time - they are probably scared of England, we do get a bad press. They're probably trying to get one in before others do.

I think it's important that the school tries to help the Polish pupils integrate sooner rather than later.

I can understand that they would need a teacher who speaks their own language initially. We have the same issue at my daughter's school with children learning English as a second langauge. But young people tend to learn fast and hopefully when they're more confident with spoken English they'll mix more with the other pupils.

theyre really nice people,my new aunty is Polish, anythings better than having to live there it doesnt sound too nice :(

and they do work damn hard I know that,I dont like this latest thing about people dissing them before they even know them in the papers etc

The last placement i did they had one little boy that was polish and he couldnt speak a word and nobody played with him all kids i talked to said he was 'weird' which i thought was harsh i think the teachers had given up on him too nobody spoke to him exept his translater so wehn i walked back from the staff room i smiled at him and he smiled back he looked so happy that someone noticed him! everyone smiles in the same language at the end of the day. but anyway getting back on track if i was in a polish school with 5 english people the likely hood is i would stick with them x

I echo those sentiments. A smile can really help to break down those barriers. :) :) :)

I hate it too. Xenophobia. >:(

people are way to quick to judge foreigners without getting to know them first,if they knew what its like in Poland right now they would understand why they want to get out :(

my daughter said Natalia is from Poland and she finds it hard to make friends becasue she wants to be friends one mintue then not the next and its confusing as to who she wants to be friends with, kids!
but a lot of our dentists are polish and very good apparently Mel our friend is a nurse and her dentist asked her for Knickers she said what do you mean? worried what was coming next, I need knickers he said why said Mel for my wife from M&S she needs good knickers, she said she spends her time correcting his vocabulary but he is very nice, his pregnant wife is still in Poland,
