Last week Polar joined the TEAS family from Neville’s Nest - Guinea Pig Rescue, after it was noticed she was struggling to eat! She was seen by our amazing vet, Simon Maddock, at The Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic, who found her teeth to be severely overgrown. She had a dental the next day and immediately started to make progress. After a check up yesterday and a quick tidy up of her teeth, she’s eating really well! Simon wants to see her again next Thursday, just to make sure all is still going well and then we can start to increase the time between appointments!

Polar is hoping she will have some exciting news to share with you all next week, when she gets to meet a new little friend! ❤️

Lovely. Can’t wait to hear about Polar’s next adventure.

Simon scanned her chest and she has pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart). He said normally that would be a very bad sign, but her heart itself looks normal. He said it could be caused by poor nutrition and as her dental issues have clearly been going on for a while, this may be the reason. She’s been prescribed Frusol (a diuretic) to hopefully disperse the fluid and now she’s eating much better, her nutrition will improve! Please keep her in your thoughts!
