Hello friends! Long time visitor and first time asking for help! You all have helped me so much in the past and would like some guidance from your experience as well.

I have a young 8 month old piggie who’s had URI that he recovered from couple months ago and now is dealing with pneumonia. Took X-Ray couple weeks ago and one of his lungs were completely white!

His initial symptoms were not moving much out of the house, lack of interest in eating and drinking, rapid breathing with clicking noises.

We started him on Baytrill along with nebulizer treatment. He is now back to himself as far as being super active, eating a ton (actually gaining weight) and drinking a ton.

Problem is, his clicking noise and random rapid breathing still persists. Is this something that’ll just take time or do we need to ask the vet for something else in addition to the treatment we’re doing? It’s been about two weeks since we started this and I understand this is a longer process but wanted to ask! Thanks!

Hi and welcome back

I am very sorry about the pneumonia but this should be really managed and monitored with a vet; especially if there are new developments or lack of improvement over more significant periods like a fortnight after onset/end of treatment.

It may help us if you could specify what meds and measures he is on, so members with personal experiences can input or make further potentially suggestions for what to discuss with your vet.

We are going back tomorrow for a follow up. He’s on Baytrill twice a day and Meloxicam pain medication twice a day as well.

He does also get nebulizer twice a day as well. Very active and hungry all the time which is good. Just still has that wheezing and breathing issue hasn’t gone away

All the best. Sadly, this is not something I ever had an issue with but tissue damage/scarring can happen with longer term audible breathing as a result. Only a hands-on examination can tell, unfortunately.
