My guniea pig has mites, I got her medicine and have to apply some every 2 weeks. I was thinking could I shampoo her and then once she is dry, could I apply it then?
Why do you need to shampoo her first? Has she been seen by a vet to diagnose mites & what type are they? What product have you got to use? Please state your location on your profile to enable us to help
Mites are best diagnosed and treated at the vets. I made the mistake of applying spot-on (designed for pigs) to one of mine and she got worse, not better, as it just didn't kill enough of the mites. A few days later I took her to the vet and she was given a carefully measured course of Inermectin injections which properly did the trick. The spot on can cause mites to develop a resistance to the meds and can be counter-productive.
