Hello All,

I will be taking Rolo & Roxy to the vets but I don’t get out of isolation until Sunday.

I clean the girls C&C cage every 3 days, even change over the fleecing and puppy mats below. I was cleaning today when I noticed a clump of fur with a skin flake on it. I have never had this issue before with previous guinea pig, I rescued both my girls just over a month ago, I can stroke both and have held both to check their skin but I can’t find any missing clumps of hair!?Roxy has recently been dominating Rolo, urinate on her, mounting her. Could she have possibly took a chunk of Rolo’s hair but surely a flake of skin would have not come off? Just so worried! As soon as I can hopefully Monday I will get them down the vets! Thank you!

Just got Roxy out as she was biting herself to find this, attached Pictures

It does look like it could be mites, but only a vet can really diagnose this properly and prescribe the best treatment.
It is good you are having them seen as soon as possible.
The good news is that mites do tend to respond well to the appropriate treatment.

Thank you! I have ordered Ivermectin for now as recommended on many of the forums on here! Hopefully a vet can also pick up if it is anything else!

I would not use the treatment you have ordered unless a vet tells you to do so. The treatment needs to be vet prescribed to be the right strength and given in the correct length of course. Plus, you don’t have a diagnosis yet so using any product could hide evidence a vet needs to diagnose or interfere with a vet prescribed treatment. Pet shop type treatments aren’t usually strong enough to get rid of mites in any event.

What were they given and how long/often do you have to use it?

Excellent. Hopefully that should do the trick.
