No vet will see him and I don’t know what to do. I tried calling 5 places and they’re either booked or the exotic doctor is out.

does anyone know what this could be?
Any home remedy’s I can do to help him?

ive been keeping the eye clean by using a warm washcloth to get all the white buildup around the eye. DD61A5CA-CB4D-4B93-96BB-6501892A92E9.webp972235F1-D8ED-4443-B7E3-ABB3798628CB.webp

Hi!

Does this include being seen by a general vet or is that just your search for an exotics vet?
Eye meds (including antibiotics like chloramphenicol) and treatment are pretty much the same for any common species of pets. they do not require an exotics vet but they should be seen as soon as possible. Your boy's eye is looking VERY sore indeed, poor boy!

Unfortunately without any information on where in the whole world you are, we can't help you any further than that.

Is it possible that it's a hay poke? It kind of loos like the one I saw on YouTube, surgery might not be needed. How long has pig had it? If it could be a hay poke try looking at Youtube

Saskia from LA guinea pig rescue
Peirre the guinea pig was surrendered to LAGPR in horrible condition

The rescue has gone through a load of pigs, and they have more bad-eye based videos. Be sure to Check it out.

You may be trying to help here @PotatoPig but please read the forum policy regarding health advice. This piggy urgently needs to see a vet, any general vet is better than no vet at this point, eyes are pretty much the same in all animals including people and the diagnostic procedure and treatment are usually similar- that eye is in a bad way.
No online videos or home remedies can replace a vet in an eye emergency, so I hope @Carson78 can find a vet very soon

Thank you for the advice. It’s been like that for a day. Finally found someone an hour away who will see him tomorrow. Hopefully my baby will be ok.

I'm sorry, that's true, I did find the rescue' s health videos helpful, but as @PigglePuggle said, the vet is the best option, nothing else is comparable.

It's great that you found a vet, I hope he'll be fine, and the eye will not get worse until tomorrow. I really wonder how come it came so fast.... keep us updated

Fingers very firmly crossed! Good that you have got an appointment now.

What you can try to get hold of today is some plain artificial tear gel from a pharmacy for rehydration, lubrication and to help support the healing process. The eye looks very dehydrated to me.

Apply up to 6 times a day but wait for at least 30-60 minutes after each medicated drops or gel. If you can get gel (which is longer lasting in its effect and easier to apply), then get some plain articifial tear drops. The tear fluid is the same for all species and is not a medication; so it can be used safely.

It helped enormously wit saving my Nosgan's eye 3 years ago. He was initially seen by a general out-of-hours vet on a weekend who prescribed the correct treatment which my exotics vets entirely approved of and continued to use.

Please do this now; it can help to save the eye and will help with the acute discomfort.

Oh, baby boy. 😢 That looks so sore, wishing you all the luck in the world and healing hugs.
