Hello everyone my name is Macee and I’m new to this forum, I recently rescued a female Cavy from Petco (I know it’s the last thing I should’ve done but I felt bad and wanted to give it a good life) she’s very young I can tell! And nothing was wrong with her, she eats, squeaks, popcorns, drinks water, and does zoomies. She’s literally in perfect health… so I thought I got home from a l

Long day and I picked her up to notice bleeding in her area. And I found a weird flesh like piece in her cage. All is well she’s still eating and doing all the right things but I’m so confused and crying. I don’t want to lose her. Please help

I don’t know how to post photos on here of the flesh I found but it’s light pink and almost looks like a placenta at the end VERY WEIRD

Please have her seen by a vet for help.
You won’t be able to post photos until your registration on the forum is complete (you will know this has happened because the ‘attach files’ option will appear and ‘new born pup‘ will appear under your avatar).

Given we cannot yet see what it is, we can’t speculate, but if she has been pregnant and miscarried or something along those lines, she may need vet care.
How long have you had her?

Does she live with another guinea pig? If not, then do ensure you find her a female piggy friend to live with. Piggies are highly social and need to be kept in pairs at all times, particularly for youngsters its so important they are need by themselves.

hello! She’s going to Petco tomorrow because before 30 days they take her to the vet if she see something is wrong. I was quarantining her because if she had anything I didn’t want my other piggies to get sick so since we got her she’s been quarantined. She’s very very young Petco didn’t know her age but judging by her nails and nose all of those things she’s very young. Can they have gotten her pregnant whenever Petco gets their animals from? She’s still eating, she wasn’t drinking water for Atleast two days and now her water went down a bit in the feeding water bottle. Here’s the imageD30EA7CF-3367-416B-8138-77EFBC5C0CF7.webp

Any piggy under four months of age should not be quarantined. The companionship and interaction needs of youngsters are paramount and they should be bonded with another piggy immediately. (Only piggies over four months of age can go through two weeks quarantine in a separate room).

If you have another female piggy in your house, then please carry out the neutral territory bonding process so the young piggy is no longer alone.

Unfortunafely finding out you’ve got a pregnant piggy is one of the potential pitfalls of buying piggies from pet shops - its far too easy for them to have not been separated from any males quickly enough, or other piggies be missexed and left in incorrect groupings before sale.

Okay, thank you I’m new to this learning everyday when I went to the La Guinea Pig Rescue they told me when you get a newer Guinea pig especially when from Petco or places like that to quarantine them so you don’t infect your other piggies and to keep a eye on them. Did you see the Image I attached?

As I say, quarantine for piggies older than four months is fine but younger than four months and their desperate need for companionship and interaction outweighs the need to quarantine - you have to accept that you may need to treat all piggies should a new one from a pet shop bring in something.

What other piggies do you have?

I can see the image, but cannot confirm what it is. Do see a vet.
In the meantime, I would switch from the weekly weight checks and instead weigh her daily just so you can be sure she is definitely eating enough hay (you cannot judge hay intake by eye)

So sorry you are having such a worrying time, you are obviously concerned about her. I can’t say what that it is but do take it to the vet and show them. Can you put it in a pill bottle in salt water to keep it fresh so they can examine it. I hope your little girl is ok and suffers no I’ll effects 🤞

Hello everyone update, we took her to Petco where they will provide free vet care since we just bought her. I’m very worried she’s scared. She’s gotten so used to us and I don’t know where they’ll put her or what happens we are getting answers now. I’m scared and I’m going to be heart broken if she passes

Good luck for your little lady, I hope it’s nothing serious. Make sure you tell the vet you want her back, as piggies returned to pet stores (healthy or otherwise) are classed as “damaged goods”. I hope you get some answers and she’s back in your arms in no time 🤞
