Hi everyone,
I just made an account purely to see if anyone knows what’s wrong with my guinea pig. I have had my guinea pigs coming up to 4 years now (2 boar, males) and something isn’t quite right.
This past week, Theo (the dark grey one) has been making very strange noises. His posture seems to be different. He’s distanced himself from the other piggy & has been trying to bury himself with anything he can. I had a bad feeling that he was coming to the end of his life but I catch him jumping around at times and his appetite is still very good.
His wee has hints of blood in it sometimes and I’m worried that he’s in pain…
His squeaking is very loud and persistent

He is not necessarily coming to the end of his life, your piggy is still very young - he may simply have a very treatable condition. Please have him seen by a vet. We can’t know what is wrong with him, legally only a vet can diagnose and prescribe treatment.

Please switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh him daily so you can monitor hay intake (you cannot gauge hay intake by eye). This will also enable you to step in with appropriate syringe feeding and stop any weight loss. Please do see a vet.
