Hi

I have taken away one of my boars from his two brothers as they were scrapping...not bad until last week when he was bitten on the bum and nose and it drew blood so i think it is best they are apart.

Anyway Hardy is one years old and I wish to bond him to another boar. I am wondering what is the best age for the baby to be as I saw a lovely lonely piggie in a petshop who was 9 weeks and they refused to sell him to me saying he was "too old to be bonded." Bearing in mind i will have to quarantine him what is the best age for a baby?

The younger the better really - 4-5 weeks is preferable - aren't there any rescues near you, as they will often help you bond the piggies. If you get a pet shop one and they don't get on you could end up with 2 single boars.

Usually we get people to bring their adult boar to us and we find him a friend - some will get on with an older boar, others will only get on with a baby, it's down to the personalities of the individual pigs mostly!
