How much time do u guys think guinea pigs need out of their cage everyday? Whenever I take my guineapigs out of their cage they want to go back. I also have a play pen that I put them in sometimes

Do you put hides, hay and water there for them as well? They may not be used to it yet. How long have you had them?

Mine have floortime almost everyday, if not every second day. They have lots of boxes, hideys, tubes and a tray of hay. They love floor time and run and popcorn about :)
They go out in the outside run weather permitting, which isn’t much at the moment as it’s ridiculously hot

I do put they just sit there. I would let them run around my room but they would poop and pee on my carpet and they run under my furniture and don’t come out.

I have had my guinea pigs for 8 month. I have tried taking them but it won’t work. They were not babies when I got them so I think that is the problem

Did you do it from the beginning? Use hides from their cage. Do they not eat hay at all that you put in there for them?

Not being young when you got them isn’t a reason for them to do that. They may just still be settling in.

I do use hides from their cage. I haven’t done it from the beginning because I just got the play pen a few weeks ago. They usually just sit in their hides and don’t do anything. They also dont like when I hold them

They may just need time :) it’s quite common for pigs that aren’t use to play time to be too worried to leave a hidey. Eventually even after a few months they one day pluck up the courage to go out and explore, and from the on play time is fun!
Just keep getting them out to get use to it as much as you can. Good luck

Piggies aren’t a cuddly pet, and I think that ‘myth’ needs to be stamped out. Not all like it and if they don’t then you don’t force it. Just do their weekly health check and weight check and leave them to it. You also have to work to gain their trust. Remember they’re prey animals and that instinct is still in them.

Keep trying in my with the floor time and realise they’ll do it at their pace and not yours ☺️
