Does anyone recommend guinea pig play dates ?

A girl on youtube recommended it's fun for your piggies to meet other piggies, i have 2 boars, would letting them meet another boar be fun or too stressful ?

it wouldn't be for permanent living or anything, just for maybe an hour or 2 just let them out in a run together or something ?

Yer agreed with Harold it'd probably cause a fight, especially if it was only short term as they'd see each other as a threat for food, space, etc. I don't think seperate runs near each other would hurt though, just not close enough that arguments can arise.

That is a really bad idea...
Hate to break it too you... But if you introduced another boy to your existing two even for only 5 mins... It could up-set the bond your boys have and you could potentially end up with two single boys... Not to mention you might be opening your self up for a full scale fight... And also the risk of infection... The third piggie could be a carrier of an illess and potebtionally pass it on to your boys and they could become very sick...

Not worth the risk of break ups and the upset in a settled relationship. The fun is only for that girl without any consideration for the piggies who are involved.

Every time piggies meet new piggies, dominance has to be reestablished. This can take days. Untill this clears they will not be settled and happy in eachothers company, so 2 hours would be pointless for the piggies.

With boars, serious fights could break out, and it could disrupt the bond of your pair meaning they would never go back together.

I agree with wiebke. This is for the girls pleasure not the piggies.

Never mind stressing the pigs, it'd stress me

Even having a neutered boy and a group of girls, I'm always on pins whenever we add a new pig (done it four times now, that's enough for me!) I'd be quite happy for my lot to meet other girls through bars though, as long as Pippa kept her crown as top-pig, everyone'll be happy!

Boys are especially iffy, even if they only meet a new boy for half an hour or so, they may have to go through all of the dominance stuff all over again. I don't think it'd be worth the risk of fall-outs If they met a girl, even through bars, it could send them crazy with hormones and they'd almost certainly fight..

Probably more stressful than fun for the pigs, and you run the risk of introducing potential illnesses that the other pigs may be carrying, even if they don't have symptoms. Personally I'd skip it!
