Yesterday, I put some rose hips in Pips cage and she just moved them about. Today, I put 5 hips in her cage. She approached them very cautiously and sniffed them and backed away, She then started to wheek at them. She approached them again then moved backwards, sat on her bum, bent her head down and flicked poo at the rose hips with her teeth. I thought this was very strange. After about twenty mins, she went and had a sniff at the hips and started to eat one. She has eaten one but left some skin.
Anyone else see their piggy act like this towards something ? I was beginning to think she had OCD or something and didnt like new things / changes in her cage. :)

That is hilarious!
I've never seen a pig flick poo at anything.
What is a rose hip?

A rose hip is the red thing on a rose bush / tree after the rose flower has died. They are edible and its one of the ingredients for rosehip syrup. It is the pod full of seeds.

When she bent down she was likely trying to eat a poo and may have accidentally flicked it. She sounds so cute. Are you going to get her a friend?

I agree, it sounds like she was bending down to eat her poo, my girls do this- if they flicked it at the rose hips, then I'm sure it was an accident.

Yes. She will be having a friend very soon. I am letting her settle in first. It will probably be a week on monday.

She could have flicked it by accident. I know they eat their own poo as the goodness is in the first pooing.
It just looked like she was flicking it at the rosehips. lol.

It would be funny if she did it on purpose! Are you taking her to a rescue so she can choose her own friend?

Not me taking her, but the rescue place has offered to collect and deliver. This way, she will be there for a couple of days to make sure she has the right playmate. If I took her myself, I we would only be there for about two hours while she is introduced to a potential playmate. This is what the lady told me on the phone. I agreed about her Pip being collected and brought back home with her new companion. It seems better to me and the professionals know what they are doing. I am happy with this way.

If she did flick at the rosebuds on purpose, it would be funny and I would have to get ready with a camera to film it. She would definitely be on 'You've been framed'. lol
It just seemed strange with the actions she done and then reach for her poo and it landed near the buds twice. lol

Lol you've been framed!

Oh that is wonderful that the rescue is taking her to bond. I bet you cannot wait to see her friend.

I will be looking forward to her coming home with the new friend when she does go. It will be a surprise for me. I suppose they will phone me before they bring her home to make sure I am in and to say what the new one is, either female or castrated male.
