well they new Ferplast 140 turned up, and so with a divider splitting it in two, and two food bowls, two water bottles, two pigloos etc, Pip and Patch are in plenty of space, able to eat side by side with the bonus that Pip can't get bitten.
(Pip does lots of springing around and circuits of his half of the cage)

The odd thing is they are both gnawing at the divider (an old cage top that is cable tied across the middle), and trying to get to each other.

Patch comes out of his pigloo and starts chirping, then Pip wakes up and comes out to join in.

It is a shame they can't be trusted to be together without the divide, as they clearly miss each others company, Whilst they can see each other and squeak to each other, it can't be the same... ah well, one day maybe.

as an aside, the Ferplast 140, is excellent, just glad the lounge is large! :))

Sorry but that cage is not big enough for them both to live in with the divide permanently. It is okay for a few days if they have a few hours floor time but not as an actual home.

that's a shame to hear as they will be living in there until the weather has perked up and they go to the outside hutch and run.

they each have the same approximate floor space as the Ferplast 100 offers for one guinea pig, and they are out in the hall for play.

eeeee, it's all different from when I was a lad, guinea pigs and rabbits were outdoors year round, bedding of newspaper with hay, and blankets and tarp over the hutch in the cold weather.
:))

They will not be happy living in there though. Is there no way you would get a c and c cage? They could live happily in it all year round and probably even live together without a divider.

nope, not at the moment, it may be they get over their hormones and can live without the divide at some point, but for now their together time is supervised.

I did look at the c&c thing, but the 4'6" by 2'3" cage is a much better solution in the house - and has the height and cross wires that enable me to add an upper level each side which gives each guinea pig and extra 2' by 2.25' floor space.

Extra layers do not count as more space. Only level floor space does. A c and c does take up more space but it makes the piggies much happier.

C & C cages

Hiya,

I'm new! I bet this has been discussed lots of times before but...

Where is the best place to buy the squares for C and C cages and the plastic stuff. I would love to upgrade my guineas to a C&C cage but every time I look it seems to get very expensive.

Thanks

Hattie
