Hi, so recently I introduced my boar waffles to a young boar. They got on pretty well until the younger piggy started bothering him and biting his fur. Waffles wasn't eating very much, lost alot of weight, was breathing very heavy and had a runny nose and crusty eyes. When I brought him to the vet he was given baytril for a chest infection but he kept losing weight. When we brought him back again he had lost about 200g because he's not eating anything. Hes been having critical care since yesterday but lost another 5g which isn't too bad I've just given him more, he's also been separated from his cage mate because the vet thinks it could be caused by stress and he seems a good bit better. So when I went to give him some critical care this morning there was a bit of pinkish urine on his bedding, I wasn't sure if It was pink because it was hard to see but now he's having lap time and it's pink again! He has been eating a little and had a few blueberries so maybe that has stained it? I'm a bit worried but should I take him to the vet anyway just incase since he still isn't eating maybe it could be something else?
Thanks

Some food can stain their urine. But urine also oxidises and turns a rusty brown. I think when it’s blood it’s different/separate from the urine. However, if you’re worried do take him in to be seen.

We don’t generally advise on medical separation. The new piggy may have brought the bug which your resident piggy couldn’t fight off.

You will have to up the syringe feeding. A few blueberries isn’t enough given hay is the most important part of their diet. If he’s not eating enough hay (losing weight every day) then you need to increase how much you give him. A probiotic would be good as well because baytril can be hard on their guts. Either an hour before or an hour after the antibiotics.

Hope he starts feeling better soon.

Hi, thanks for replying. This morning he was sitting on my hoodie and it's pink again! Is it normal to happen 2 days in a row he hasn't had blueberries or anything red today?

I’m not sure what blood in urine looks like. I think your best bet is to have him checked over by the vet.
