Just hoping to get a bit of confirmation/clarification of some behaviour going on in Tombstone (new name for the cage and other piggy related areas!)

We're almost a week in of Wyatt and Tango living together. There's been no excessive or aggressive signs of dominance from Tango and barely any mounting. He does rumble and grumble around a lot but he and Cash were always like that. He's also more than happy to share the hay box and food bowl/veggie pile with Wyatt.

I'm just a tad concerned that they're very different piggies at heart. Wyatt loves to play and zoomie whereas Tango moves for the necessity of food and that's about it! Wyatt is also very used to being in a big piggy snuggle with his brothers/sisters/cousins/mummy/aunty and he keeps trying to snuggle with Tango in their various houses. Now Tango is not a snuggler when it comes to other pigs, he and Cash would sleep near each other but never do the sweet cuddle thing. Tango is never aggressive to Wyatt when he does this but there's an awful lot of wheeking/rumbling and readjustment that goes on and often poor Wyatt will be turfed out after a while and will go sleep alone in another cosie. He never seems depressed about this though as it were, I just feel quite sorry for him!

Will this all settle down with more time? And will they ever adapt more to each other's behaviour? Wyatt clearly adores Tango and follows him around just trying to be buddies but Tango always has to have a good grumble whenever he tries to be friendly.

I know how you feel. With my group Amina always tried to snuggle with another pig and share cabins. Due to them complaining so much and nipping her she learned not to do it. It is upsetting to see. I think different personalities can work, they just need time. I have five and they are all different but it works.

They will work out; just give them time! Wyatt is very much a little boy and Tango is an adult. Guinea pigs can sleep apart and still enjoy a close bond. dominance is never a pretty phase.

Thanks for the reassurance, that's mostly all what I thought was going on but you can never be sure! Hopefully with a few more days they'll settle more.

I'm just starting to get attached to Wyatt now too (still bitterly missing my little Cash) so would hate for things to be going wrong!

If it helps, my boys are quite different too, Alfie's happy doing his own thing whereas Joey often won't leave him alone and will follow him round and wheeks like crazy if they're separated, but Alfie never seems bothered. But like yours they are different ages, Joey's still a baby. They've never had a fight so I think they are happy together, so I'm sure yours are too :)

my dash and luigi have only been together for a few months and dash always used to snuggle with his previous cagemate but now he can only snuggle with luigi if luigi says he can :) , they still are good friends though xx
