I have a pig who's nails- without fail- curl after just a few days.

Her nails cut like butter and her quick is low but not low enough for me to get every bit of curled nail.

Tried again just now and she bled (just a little) but I'm worried about her walking being uncomfortable because the outer nails are still slightly curled even though I cut them as short and straight as possible.

I'd attach pictures but she hates being picked up and I only just put her back.

I've also noticed her nails grow extremely fast, I have to cut them much sooner than any of the other pigs.

I was just wondering if anyone knows why this happens or how I can fix it? She's a satin if that effects anything? Thanks :)

We have 2 piggies with very curly nails and after asking the vet it seems their toes are curled too after being fatties on hard flooring with no exercise for 2 years before we brought them home :( if your piggy is a satin with bone problems her toe bones may be a bit mishapen, best ask the vet, but there's no real cure for curly nails except regular trims x

She is a rescue so the first could be case, I'm really hoping it's not because she's a satin, I don't want to lose her :( I'll speak with the vet just in case

Hopefully if she is a rescue she may just have odd toes and nails because of her past history, hard flooring and not enough places to lie down and bad nail trims or no nail trims in early life can all affect the feet long term x

Two of my herd of 5 have very curly nails. A real nightmare to cut. Both were from excellent rescues as babies. They are on fleece so nails dont wear down at all.

One of mine’s outer nails curl inwards. They also grow very fast (but they’re black so I can’t see the quick). She doesn’t see mm to have any issues or discomfort getting around though. I just trim them more often. She’s pretty shiny and I’ve wondered about satin genes, but I don’t think she is
