I've just started using puppy training pads so I can put my pigs on the sofa (in a bid to get them tamer). However, they keep eating them! I put loads of hay and veggies out for them, but they are still chomping on bits of plastic/paper/whatever they are made from.
How do I stop them? Will they get sick from it?

You need to cover them with something, like a towel.

They have crystals inside with something that attracts a puppy to pee on it, so we really shouldn't let pigs eat them. They could get sick from them.

I cover mine with fleece. If they are uncovered they will try to eat them. There's some sort of attractant in them which is meant to encourage puppies to pee on them and in turn that is irresistible to pesky piggies.

my guineas will have a nibble on anything plastic - Sparkle is the worse ! I use puppy pads under my fleeces and do my best to cover the pads - but sometimes she finds an exposed bit .

I agree it's not a good idea for them to eat Puppy pads - but , just wanted to re-assure you that Sparkle is still here to tell the tale :)

Both my boars have eaten puppy pads and they are still here too. I use them under the vetbed in the cage, I have to tuck the thin edging bit under and make sure there is not the slightest bit of pad sticking up otherwise it gets eaten.

One of our sows has also nibbled on puppy pads! I tend to use the kids bed mats or disposable baby changing mats now and they seems less attractive to the pigs.
