I have recently taken out the plastic house (the one that came with their indoor cage) that i was using in my piggies new indoor home as there were often cross words between my girls as to who was going to go in there as they would not go in there together and replaced it with 2 pigloos so that they each have their own hidey hole should they want to get away from it all!

The only problem is that they are both laying on the fleece outside the houses and not going in them like they would have done the old house!

Will they ever use them I'm now wondering as I'm concerned that of an evening, it may be a little on the chilly side for them to lay oustide the houses despite them being indoor piggys.

Is there any advice please or will they go in them once they are used to them being in there?

It can take a bit of time to get used to a new piece of furniture.

You could a) gently rub the piggies with a soft cloth and rub it over the washed pigloos to get rid of the "strange object" smell the pigloos to get rid of the plastic smell and/or b) put a little treat right at the back to entice them in.

Thanks Wiebke, will wash them down with the rest of their bits tonight and then put them back with treats inside - hopefully they will get used to them soon as i brought them to make sure each of my girls had their own space and now neither of them are in there but curled up together next to them !!

Yeah that's the funny thing, you never know what they'll approve of. If you gently guide one of them inside they'll probably stay in for a bit and then come out and if they come out they'll figure they can go back it. That's what it's like with my girls anyway. With the ramp I had to guide them up and then they were fine with it. Also with the bed I got them they had to be 'shown' it before they used it.

When I got one for my guinea pig I dont think she new how to get into it?
When I gently ushered her in she loved it! She spends most of her naptime in there now :)

I'd definitely agree with putting a treat in it!

I just made little flower pot houses for my pigs in their outdoor run, which is on concrete, and they weren't using them so I put food and hay in them and now they use them all the time. I just keep some hay in there, so they can lie on it and eat it and they keep sleeping in them. My 2 girls were the same, always chasing each other out of the house!

Mine just sniffed their pigloo for ages until I put a bit of hay at the back of it for them, they soon figured out that they could go in and out, and now they love chilling in it!

I think I might cut some fleece squares to put in the bottom once I get around to it :)

My girls had no hesitation they sit on top of it, lie inside of it... theyre fairly intrepid and curious the lot of them though :)
