He's probably just scared my guinea pig didn't make much noise at first and he would just freeze whenever I got him out but now he makes little squeaks and when he's running around he makes noise just give it a week or two
I once fostered a piggy that didn't make a sound for four weeks until he grew in confidence, discovered his cage toys were fun and started to relax a bit. Try a large paper bag with some hay and bits of veg hidden in it to rummage about in.
it might be because he's still settling in at the moment. my ches was a very quiet piggy. every so often he would do the loudest wheek almost by accident and shock himself! he made other little quiet noises but i think some pigs are generally quiet. all mine have been actually. now we have benjie and he definitely likes the sound of his own voice bless him
When I had Moo on his own he never made a single Wheek or sound he just chewed on his cage bars to get my attention, then we got Tubby to keep him company and everything changed, Moo wheeked and called out all through the night and for his veg from that day on!
Piggies can take a long time to settle into a new home so try and be patient. They are much more vocal when they have another guinea pig to chat away to. Are you thinking of getting him a friend?
Well I cuddled popcorn today and as I was stroking him a very faint squeak lol I was just looking on Amazon for guinea pig shopping totes (bags) there's one on there with a guinea pig saying your nobody until you have been wheeked at lol I've got to get it it's brill
He is probably just not quite comfortable yet. It can take them a bit to 'find their voice' in a new environment. Some pigs are also quieter than others. Out of my pigs, Linney was pretty quiet and Sundae and Frenzy are/were the loudest ones. Hadley is somewhere in between.
