Just discovered this website www.piggyparadise.co.uk and was wondering if anyone had ever bought from them. They do ready made C&C cages. Not sure if the prices are reasonable but as my partner and I are not sure how to make one it is looking very tempting. Would need to know if Gertie is getting one or two friends before buying though for which size to choose :)

P.S we just shut Gertie's run up as we saw her go back to bed and then she shouted from the other end of the room - she sneaked out without us noticing, little madam :))

That's good to know thanks, am all excited. Will need to see how many we adopt first but I think we will order one and keep her current cage for holidays, sickness etc.

I had another look and it looks like the website was only set up at the beginning of April.

I emailed the lady that runs the website to find out if she can put a door in the cage as Gertie is used to running round the room and she came back really quickly and said yes and she can basically make it how we want. So that's great, will defintiely order once we know what is happening adoption wise. :)

the website looks good, but there is no indication of who is running it. i know a few people ahve been burnt on here from companies who seem quite good, and then disappear.
price seems to be on the high side of fair, but it would be a lot cheaper if you made your own.
the pictures of all the stands, homes and shelves are very good, an give you a good idea what to aim for.
if you go use this company, it would be great to have some feedback about them

just had more of a look round the website. she seems a very enthusiastic piggy slave, and some of the pics showing designs they've tried are ingenious.

I've just costed up how much our cage would cost to buy from there and it would be £210.53 including delivery, I would estimate it's cost us £90 max to make it ourselves so if your wanting the easier option and have one made then go for it, but it works out ALOT cheaper to do it yourself

Thanks for the advice will have a think about it then, and maybe make my own. Won't be for a couple of months anyway.

I got a quote of £170 (inc delivery) but me and OT worked out would cost us £80 max to make think its just the convience of having it made xx

That is a big difference, Ross just said he will have a look to see if he could make it.

Will have a look through the threads about how to make them.

I made my own C+C and wouldn't hesitate to make my own in any design. For a straightforward cage it's pretty hard to get it wrong!

I do share the concerns that it's a website that's been recently setup and is entirely virtual: there is no real address or any verifiable contact information. I'm not saying that they are dishonest, but it all looks very new to me.

Also I would say that their fleece items are pricey and not very original in design or showing a great deal of skill and imagination.

I made my own too. Bit of effort required but easy. As you still have to assemble the cage yourself, the only really benefit is the correx being cut to size.

Cavy Couture is also now doing C & C. http://www.cavycouture.co.uk/
I've never ordered from them but I think other people on the forum have. Might be a safer option. :)

Yes, I would also say that cavycouture.co.uk is a good bet for a C+C if you really felt you had to buy and not make yourself. They are well established and are connected to several rescues who they help out on a regular basis.

Thanks Flips and Pollie too (would buy my bedding from you anyway :)))

i agree. however this website itself could be used as a resource for cage design - who ever has done the website has a fab graphics/design package.

cavy couture seems v good too - haven't ordered from them yet myself thoguh

Hello,

I'm Vicky and I run Piggy Paradise! I get statistics on my website as to where people are visiting from, so I read this thread and decided to join the forum and hopefully explain a little about myself.

I currently have 4 piggies and have been redesigning their cages for the last year and a half. Quite simply I enjoy observing them and redesigning to suit their needs. Thats why I decided to create Piggy Paradise.

The website has only been running since the beginning of April and I have had quite a few orders. I am hoping that some customers will be sending in photos and feedback on their orders to the website. Whilst I have only been running it a short time (and I can understand the anxieties surrounding a new company) please let me reassure you that I am completly genuine.

I have chosen not to list contact details publically on the website since they are also my private details and you do not know who is reading it! That said if a customer needed a phone number or address I would not have a problem giving it out! Once a customer emails me I believe they can see my email address in the reply!

Yes it is cheaper to make your own C&C Cages, although there are people who cannot find the materials or don't know how - that is where I hope to help! The extra costs incurred are for my time and a little profit to ensure the company can keep going. I do hope when the company is more established to be donating some profits to resucing in guinea pigs - but I do need to establish that I can continue trading before this can happen!

If a customer wishes to purchase several items from me then I am open to doing offers, there have been a few customers who have purchased a couple of cages and I can reduce the price if they wish to do so.

Finally whilst the fleece accessories may not be overly showing imagination or skill the main aim of the website is about cages - not fleece items. That said I have looked at the prices and reduced them slightly.

If anyone has any feedback on prices, items etc. then I am happy to take it and work with customers, my main aim is customer satisfaction and helping guinea pigs have the best lives they can!

I have looked at the forum rules and I know advertising is not allowed until 250 posts - but I hope this does not count as that - I just wanted people to know I was a genuine trader since it was already a thread on here.

I do hope to become a part of this forum!
Thanks!

Hi Vicky. Thanks for taking the time to give us some info about your website. I don't know much about forum rules but as we've been discussing your site it seems fair for you to comment. :)
Some forum members have had their fingers (and pockets) burned by someone going out of business recently, hence the wariness.

I hope you decide to stay on and join the forum community here. It's a great place. :)

I can understand why people would be dubious if that has happened! I would be too, although every company has to start somewhere!

Having a good look around the forum and am liking what I see - havn't found too much UK information on piggies yet so thats nice. Seems friendly too!

Hi Vicky,
as i said in a previous post, you seem a very enthusiastic (and caring) piggy slave. I think the drawings and graphics of cages and stands on the website are excellent, and even in themselves they are a great resource.
unfortunately may of us (like you) are quite practical, and love messing around with cage designs. Having said that i'm sure there are good openings in the 'ready-made' market.
wishing you well in your business, and hope you enjoy it here on the forum.

Hello Vicky,

Welcome to the forum! Glad that you're planning to stick around.

One thing I thought could really enhance your website was an 'about us' page which gave more information about why you had decided to go ahead with the venture. This would help build up trust between you and your potential customers.

Good luck with your business!

HI Vicky

I love your website, and the set up you have for your gps. Your site has given me lots of ideas on how I can expand and improve my set up. Especially intrigued by the cavy caves, have never seen anything like it before.

I wish your site had been around when I was looking to buy a 4x3 c&c back in February. I was one of the ones 'burnt' by the trader who went out of business. The external ramps are a great idea. My girls aren't too happy using an open internal ramp so may look to upgrade to one of these in the future.

I have bitten the bullet and ordered one of your wonderful fitted covers in the pink butterfly fleece. I've wanted one of these since another member flagged them up on an american website.

Can't wait for it to arrive.

Beki

Hello,

Thanks for all the kind comments - I appreciate that! I am aware that many people will prefer to make their own cages and that is fine! It is those people who cannot that I am aiming to help!

Even if people wish to make their own, I would be pleased to know that my site had helped with ideas from my information and graphics - that would be great to know!

I do have a little introduction to the website on the main page which does explain how I came to make the site. That said I think perhaps I will make a more obvious 'About us' page - thanks for the suggestion!

Beki - thanks for the order - just waiting for some resources to come (all delayed due to bank holiday!) but will get working on it as soon as everything is in! Would love to see pictures of your piggies using it!

Thanks for all the kind comments and welcome to forum - I look forward to spending more time here in the future!
