My 5 year old piggy Max seems to be sitting in his urine more than usual and this has resulted in his usually beautiful flowing locks at the back becoming wet and slightly matted/knotty.

He is a big piggy at 1250-1300g usually, now at the bottom end of this normal range, but still has a good appetite and shows no discomfort weeing or pooing.

Am I right in going to the vets to see whether there is an underlying health issue causing this. I'd rather see the vet unnecessarily than fail to spot a problem.

A vet would rather see a pig with nothing wrong and an anxious owner, than a really ill piggy and an owner who has left it too late.

Thanks for reassuring me that I am right to be a cautious piggy mum, even if it turns out I didn't need to be.

Poor Max will be going through the indignity of a bum bath today with lots of conditioner to help with the knots and then cutting out the knots that remain. I've already cut out a poo this morning that got caught up in his leg fur :vom:
