She basically object to any kind of music I listen to. We're roommmates and I spend my whole time in my room (studying for a big exam a month from now) and I'm writing essays and stuff and can't really focus without music!
What should I do? Wear headphones for the rest of my life or just let her get used to it?

This is my music library: http://www.last.fm/user/maxellnimons See? No screamo song or anything...is my piggie even ok? I thought they like music :(
(The only music she doesn't hate is Enya, which I'm not too crazy about lol )

So my actual question is : when I play music and she hates it, Does it stress her? Is it harmful to her? (Its NEVER loud)

I personally would listen with headphones so she does not get upset.

I have my guineas in the living room. Although they don't mind the television which is never that loud. We don't play music at all. I think they see it as a strange sound and get frightened. My daughter has just treat herself to a new cd and uses headphones in her laptop. It isn't worth stressing them out.

Then headphones it is...anything for my baby girl <3 :)

Don't forget that piggies have very good hearing, you may have realised when you walk in the door and our getting squeaked at for their dinner. Volume is definately key. I even got my home alarm company to remove the house internal alrm in case my piggies got upset.

My piggies like Enya too and I don't! The piggies have their own playlist which I leave on for them when I go out. The rest of the time I use headphones if I'm on the computer and want to listen to my music as they live in the computer room and are not too fond of my playlist! I think piggies are all different in the sounds they like/dislike get used to/never get used too. Mine hate the sound of the squeaky front garden gate and rumble whenever they hear it and they have been hearing it for 2 years now. Telephone ringing even on the telly freezes them.

I only had Hazelnut when my internal home alarm went off one day. A friend of mine was in the house while I was away and din't know how to shut it off so had to ring me and I had to rush back home. She said Hazelnut was totally unfazed by it!

I read somewhere (might have been on here) that classical music is good for piggies as it relaxes them. I tried this out just before the fireworks started in November, and they all froze and looked at me in horror. I turned it off and put the Big Bang Theory on the television, and they all started popcorning round their cage. I've played my music before (not classical music) and they weren't bothered. I think they obviously all have their own tastes!

Awww their own play list? I never thought of that! I can play Enya for her when I'm not home! Thanks! :D

I love classical music and usually just listen to Chopin for hours (looking for inspiration lol) but she definitely hates it and makes that "stop!" Sound on certain parts, its like a cat's purring, that means she's annoyed right?
Anyways its really cute that your piggies like Big Bang Theory lol I wish mine had such good taste lolol

I spent money on a new bell box and battery. Unfortunately it is quite noisy setting the alarm until it goes off after setting. Hope no burglars are listening but I don't want to use it as they don't like it.

All this talk about alarms kinda scares me I don't have any alarms...maybe some sort of a fire alarm system? Just maybe lol

Let them get used to it long as its not too loud. Mine are indoors and have had to get used to hair dryers etc. pretty much nothing annoys them not even the Hoover now!

However Rodney hates keys jingling, and Billy doesn't like Leona Lewis or Pink. Haha.

I got burgled once. They took the usual stuff - telly, sound system, CDs, even the air con out of the wall. I had insurance so this was more of a nuisance than anything else. But, they also took souvenirs from my travels that are of no commercial value but meant a great deal to me. Plus some of my nicer pieces from my rock collection - again no real commercial value but important to a lapidarist like myself. So, I invested in a monitored alarm system.

Murphy's Law, it has gone off 4 times now and nothing to do with burglars - once smoke from burnt toast set it off, once a friend who was house-sitting while I was away triggered it as she opened the front door because the disarm combination completely went out of her head, once when the sparky had a lapse of memory as well and the last time when I set it on leaving the house forgetting my friend was in there and I hadn't given her the disarm combination! So, she triggered it everytime she moved, hence the frantic phone call to my mobile and my rushing back to the house. Hazelnut munched through it all and I missed my meeting!
