Here are some pictures of my permanent and semipermanent piggy corners in the living room outside the cage.

As you can see, they have a plastic underlay (mine is nobbly kitchen cupboard liner from Ikea to prevent the fabrics on top from sliding around). Old beach towels and bathroom mats come in very handy!

In order to attract the piggies, I also have provided shelter of some sort. Most piggies do not like open spaces.

All elements can be washed or wiped and double up as toilet corners outside the cage.

Tha hay tray in the tv cabinet - one of the favourite places, especially when freshly done out!

Hutch trays, huts and cage platforms double up in winter - a good place to get a bit of warm sun on the fur!

Thanks for that :) I always have trouble when my piggies have floor time, with pee and poops, so the plastic lining underneath is a good idea.

Your tribe are so lucky to have so much space and freedom. I love the idea of free-roaming piggies but I'd constantly be petrified, thinking I was going to step on them or something! I know you keep yours perfectly safe though....and soooooo happy and contented. Lovely to see :)

You develop an instinctive knack of looking out whether there are piggies around and never lifting your foot more than an inch from the floor when stepping backwards.

In over five years, we have only had a couple of near misses and the odd bump into my foot or my leg from a piggy suddenly making an unexpected dash exactly where you were stepping, but never anything serious. Mostly, the piggies stay at a safe distance when I'm moving around and come only closer when I'm stationary.

That looks fantastic :)

When I die please can I come back as a piggy and live with you ?:))

I love your set up.

One day I hope to have something like that but with kids, cats and a dog it's going to have to wait.

It's genius anyway and so well thought through. Thank you for sharing!

Brilliant setup - I especially like the hay tray beneath the tv. Live television - the best kind!

My piggies roam the conservatory but won't step over the sill (patio doors) into the livingroom. They will wee and poo anywhere they are able to hide, so I have cushions pushed underneath the cupboard in there to prevent them from hiding underneath. I also provide roaming cover that is just not quite ok to stay under too long, but makes them feel happier. An old wooden foot stool is perfect, and they can safely chew the legs too. (If I drape a towel over it then it immediately becomes a 'safe' hideaway and the floor underneath will be decorated.) The stool is next to the tray of turf, so that they can nip under there while chewing, then get back onto the turf for another go.

I do like the way your piggies are kept away from the books, very neat. I use a tall wire caging to keep mine away from their heater.

Thank you very much for showing us your set up, very happy piggies you have there!
