Bought a new 2 floor cage for 2 boars ( Pickles and Terry Crews). One floor is a bit smaller than their old cage but as 2 floors I thought they’d love it. But they won’t go down ramp. If I put them downstairs they go up but not down. As the upstairs is a bit smaller than they’re used to there is a lot of squaring up going on. Any ideas how to make them use all the cage.

My trio lived in a two-storey cage for quite some time and would just zoom through the ramps with no trouble. They also used both floors very actively.

What I did was make the ramps less steep and add sides/rails to them. Attaching a piece of carpeting or, if your piggies aren't chewers, a ribbed rubber bathroom mat (sorry, I can't think of the correct term to use, but I'm referring to the kind of soft, foamy rubber mats that have ribs and can be cut to size) could help create more grip, so they'd feel more secure.

If you still have your old, one-floor cage, you could use it as a play pen.

How steep is your ramp? As a general rule of thumb, for every 5cm you go up, the ramp needs to be 16cm long :)
Also, what materials is it? Can they get grip on it?

I have a ramp in my cage and apart from my older girl who has cataracts so she chooses to spend her time downstairs these days, the other two have no problems.

I made the ramp less steep, lined the ramp with carpet to add more grip and attached a fabric ramp tunnel although these are difficult to get hold of now.
