my younger brother wants to get a bunny, and he has already made a deal with a seller he met online... the problem is , as soon as I go back to school, he looks after them and he made them a little house .. but he wants to put them together, that's the piggies and the bunnies. and am scared because I wes told not to do so in a piece of info I got...what should I do? house'them together?

No please don't. No matter how much they appear to be "friends" all it takes is a bunny to get excited and kick its legs and if piggie happens to be in the way then there is not much hope for the poor piggy.

that's the problem
. he made the house and he's my caretaker also.. I'll soon go back to school. am done trying to persuade him not to

I had a piggy and a rabbit together before I knew better.Went to feed them and the rabbit had squashed the guinea pig to death. The poor thing had every bone in his body broken. They had been together for 2 years.Show him thus

Omg, how awful, you must have been devastated. :(

Hubby had to clean it up.I was absolutely gutted. This is why myself and my three eldest kids go mad if anyone even suggests it.

I've heard that rabbits carry some bacterias or diseases that guineapigs can't handle. If they live together, the pigs' life will be shortened. Read about it somewhere, and also witnessed my older brothers guineapig passing about half a year after he put a rabbit in the cage with it.

Rabbits can carry bordetella, which does not affect them but can be passed onto and cause respiritory disease in guinea pigs.

They also require very different diets & some rabbit nuggets can be dangerous to piggies. Are you in the uk? The RSPCA actually say now that the two should never be housed together. They have some great info (I'm really sorry, I can't link to it atm, I'm on my phone). I hope you're able to change his mind.

I used to house pigs and buns together until I was advised to the contrary on here. My lot are now housed with their own kind in their own separate hutches

Hi,
I own a bunny and my brother has guinea pigs, and our bunny loves the piggies! He will sit and groom them while they snuggle into his fur, and he's so gentle with them when we do lap time (we don't keep them together).
More reasons why people do not suggest it is because:
1. Rabbit's back legs are extremely powerful and guinea pigs can have bones broken or they can be crushed.
2. Rabbits can also bully piggies and stop them from carrying out usual activities if they are to terrified.
3. Guinea pigs and rabbits can't communicate with each other what they want either.
4. They also have different dietary needs. If you do keep bunny and piggies together feed them both guineapig food. Rabbit food doesn't have the vitamins that guinea pigs need and if a guinea pig (as you all know) doesn't have these vitamins it can get sick. Guinea pig food has added vitamin C and these vitamins don't hurt the rabbit, it simply passes through their system.
