One of my new pigs has a sore on the pad side of his paw, here's a pic:

It's not giving him any pain when walking, he's running about fine, putting all pressure on that paw so not overly worried about contacting vets. Would like to know what to do with it. Sudocrem I've used before on some sores they had when I got them, but obviously he will more than likely lick that off of his paws. I've been told tea-bags is good with sores and things? I'll need some info on that because that went straight over my head lol!

Thanks for any advice/info, lilmisscavy :)

my old piggy has terrible trouble with her feet and someone advised me to try the perfect paws ointment from gorgeous guineas, its fab and you notice a difference in days so its worth a try O0

I'm not overly happy about getting something like that offline. If I knew what it is/could be, I can go by that and use something for it that won't irritate it.

Why wont you buy the cream inline?!

Gorgeous Guineas are awesome and Chrissie is fab, she has helped me out several times and her products are really good. Why don't you go the vet because surely it makes no difference whether you by online or at a shop.

Honestly I am like you very weary of buying on line but gorgeous guineas is fantastic and a proper run company. You can Email Chrissie who runs it. I buy all my shampoos from here or through the pampered piggies website.

Do you think it looks kind of fungel? If you really don't want to get online I would seek advice from a vet. Good luck! :)

Hi lilmisscavy,

You are very sensible not to buy any meds ,creams lotions, etc off the internet. There is no authority to check the products and anyone can sell anything.Meds.cosmetics,in fact anything that is taken by mouth or put on the skin could do harm..they could well be fake or out of date with a new label stuck on. If the firm you are buying from has a retail (shop)outlet that is safer.Buying on line costs money in postage as well.

The pic of your piggy looks as if it may be a fungal infection. What I would use is Green People Organic Babies salve.I use this for my pigs and it is completely safe and works well.I used it for aboar with urine scald on his pads,a sow with the beginnings of bumble foot and have also used it on a sore caused by a bite.ILt is soothing and waater repellant so acts as a barrier.I got my tube in Waitrose supermarket and I have seen the range in several health food stores. The salve is chemical free ,vegetarian and not tested on animals.

They have a website which would be safe to buy direct from probably, but make sure it is the genuine website which is

www.organicbabies .com. they do a nice range of things for adults as well.

The product contains ingredients that have antifungal properties,so well worth a try.

I would not use tea bags on a gp,and Sudafed contains a lot of chemicals so I personally would not put that on a gp either.

You can buy Sudafed in a spray which contains iodine. My guinea started having problems exactly like that and it turned into bumblefoot so please keep a close eye on it and if any sign of redness or the pad starts to swell take your gp to the vet for antibiotics.
