Hi! So after I found out Mabel was pregnant and ended up having 4 beautiful babies it was time to start expanding the cages! Really pleased how they turned out. The bottom one is a lot bigger than the top one but the pic doesn't do it justice.

Need to get a chrome leg to support the middle. It is very secure ATM but I'm just paranoid :)

Also made it so the Perspex on the bottom cage can slide out so its easier to clean. Need to do that for the top one too :)

Hopefully they will like it when they explore their new home tomorrow :)

Thank you :) top is 160cm by 60cm bottom is 160cm by 100cm I believe. Eventually 2 boys in the top and 5 girls in bottom I think once boys are 3 weeks old.

Not sure if the cages will be big enough for when they are all fully grown though?

i'm not good working out the space measurements :)) hopefully someone else can advise on that. the top one sounds right though for two piggies off the top of my head :)

that look great anyway :tu:

Oh also just trying wood shavings with hay on top but don't really like it to be honest and know it isn't best for the guinea pigs so probably going back to fleece liners. Possibly will make a section in both cages and use my back2nature and hay on top.

Your cage looks great :) it works out to be just over 17 square feet, 16 sq ft is the recommended for 4 but they can be in a 13 sq ft cage so id say it was probably between the minimum and recommended :) hope this helped

The 160x60 is 5ft4in by 2ft. Works out to 10ft8in squared floor space - so just over recommended size for the boys.

The 160x100 is 5ft4in by 3ft4in. Works out to 17ft9.5in squared floor space. Would assume a good size for 5 girls.

ETA: I forgot to say how lovely it looks. I bet they'll love it :)

That looks brilliant, you are very talented. Lucky piggies

All settled in well but really worried about Nigel. I think he is blind and possibly death. He is pure white so sounds like he could be lethal. Does anyone have any suggestions what else should I be looking out for he is only 10 days old. :(

Any advice much appreciated. Thank you

If he is lethal would Mabel not be letting him feed? I've seen him feeding off her anyway and he seems ok and eating etc. he is very loud and does not tend to not know where he is going :( poor little guy.

I can't advise on that but just wanted to say if he does have special needs and a possibly shorter lifespan, take solace in that he was born to such a wonderful person, who will make his life as happy as possible. He is lucky to have you.

Thank you so much that's really nice of you to say and actually makes me feel a bit better :) x

Top cage is all fleece bottom cage is fleece with a bigger area of hay etc. will soon make a box or something to go in that area but will wait till babies are older
