Piggies are not fond of handling

But they are fine once they are up. I'm talking mainly about our younger piggies.

Following on from some tips I was given by Suzygpr, I have just gone for it when attempting to pick up our piggies. I haven't tried picking up the two we collected yesterday, as they are obviously still settling in, however I have offered my hand so they can get a sniff and get used to the scent.

Our younger piggies though - just gone for it. Suzy is right - just have some confidence and "be the boss" it does work.
 
My new 9 month old Billy isn't keen on being 'caught' - he's so different from Rodney who just sits & waits to be lifted.

But he's getting there, it's getting easier. He's a real wriggler when out tho he has no time for cuddles, far too busy! I fannied around with it at first cos he seemed so angry! But eventually I just went for it & it does work.

Keep us on our toes don't they! X
 
My boy Twix is very timid, he doesn't like being caught and he wriggles and squeaks and wheeks when he is in a cuddle position in my arms or on my lap. I tried the towel trick and it worked for a couple of days but then he started running out of the towel and now when I hold him he tends to bite to try and get away! What should I do, I have had him for around 3 - 4 weeks now approximately, Rolo, my other boy, isn't keen on being caught but once on my lap he just sits there and makes happy 'grunts', cleans himself, licks my hand etc I'm really worried about Twix could something else be causing his behaviour ? :S Or is he just not used to me dya think ?
 
Mel105 - I recommend bribery. Save his favourite food for lap time & hand feed him on your lap. Worked really well for my three.
 
Thank you ! I will give it a go ! :D I already know from close observation that his favourite food seems to be celery, which is saved for treat time anyway because I have read before that piggies shouldnt have too much of it ! ahah
