Junior Guinea Pig
This post is about our newest rescue, Morrison, who we’ve had for about five months now. Some info on him: 1 year old,
skinny/hairless pig, housed alone but with three neighborly brothers, came from an owner who had less than ideal husbandry. Morrison saw a vet two months after we got him for a wellness check, and he was doing great. I didn’t think to ask about this but now that we’ve had him longer it’s become a more noticeable trait.
Essentially, Morrison will have brief periods about every 4-5 days where he won’t poop at all for 12-20 hours. He appears to be eating, drinking, still HIGH HIGH HIGH energy levels (this pig literally bounces off the walls during floor time). During these times, everything continues as normal, just... no poops. At first, I tried to give him critical care, trying to prevent stasis, but he hates it and because this is a reoccurring issue I’ve since stopped, as it always works itself out. I’m just wondering if this warrants an immediate vet visit, any ideas about this, etc. It’s so odd to me, as our other boys are very regular.
Photo of the culprit (still waiting to officially get unwatermarked photos, but he just looks so cute in this one!).
