I've just rehomed two 3 year old females from a "one way trip to the vets" and today I introduced them to my females carefully like everyone said on my other thread. I've been sat watching them for ages now and I've never noticed pack behaviour before in my piggies. It's like a David Attenborough programme. There has been a bit of hair flying and the new really submissive piggie got nipped on the ear by my much younger submissive piggie in the cross fire but all seems to be settling down now.

My dominant female is defending her throne vocaly and with the chattering and the new more dominant of the new pair is backing off and listnening to the warning. The other two are getting on like a house on fire.

My two boys, father and son rescue, can sense the new girls I think so they are playing up.

I've never had anything like this when I introduced the new male baby to his dad when I sepperated him from his mother and when I rescued my new young female.

It is really interesting to see how nature works. Even in a 20sq ft box in my garage.

I'm going to keep an eye on things just to make sure they don't get out of hand but I think the natural order will soon be restored.

everything sounds good. just make sure to watch out for fights. for the boars, you should move them away from the females so they cannot smell or see them, or else they will get hormonal and 'show off' their stuff to each other. we don't want anymore fights.:)

The boys space is attached but seperated by a wall. It's like a hugh box with a partition and a little upstairs bit each. They seem to like it but the now the boys are a bit curious. I'll keep my eye on them.

hmm...i dont know but i think they should be separated far from eachother. but if there are no problems then i guess you are fine. if the boys break out in a fight, definitely remove them away from the girls:)

good luck, definately watch the boys as it doesn't always take a lot for them to fall out. is there some where you can put them for a week or so until the girls decide who's incharge?

There are quite a few boys who live close to girls (or even above them) that do not seem to be bothered, so you may well be alright. I'd just keep it in the back of your mind, if there is trouble in paradise, especially during the hormonal phase.

I am glad that your girls seem to be settling well; the dominance issue should die down once the top lady feels secure in her position again.

Good luck and fun - I'll be attempting the same in about a month' time, if all goes right! (And will have my jitters then - as you never know how it'll go!)

I never used to get nervous about introductions, despite having some positively devilish women to introduce to each other, and to new piggies, over the years! However, I am now very, very anxious about the prospect of any more introductions at any point in the future!

Right now, Meghan is my moodiest madam; she outright refuses to share her man. She bullied two girls until I got so concerned I split the group and let Meghan have her man to herself. After about 2 months, she seemed to have really mellowed out, so I tried introducing two different girls...let's just say we ended up down at the CCT that night. rolleyes

Luckily, such severely stroppy (er, should I say dominant) pigs are not too common. It sounds like all is well in your group. :)

The layout of my house means I can hear them on my baby girls sleeping monitor so I'll be able to hear them if they get up to no good. Cheers for all the words of encouragement everyone. I'll let you all know how I get on.

Hey sounds good. I have 6 living together (all girls) and they took a day or two for the first set of introductions. No fights just nipping and chasing. The top guinea is still clearly top guinea so all is okay.

Scary though putting them all together.

I think they are all mouth and no trousers. A bit of fur flying but it's mainly running around and shouting at each other, bit like humans really. Thanks for all your help.

All quiet on the Western Front. Peace and order have been restored amongst the piggies. I've cleaned out the piggery, they've been in the garden today and they are now sitting together in the piggery eating cucumber. Mummy Pig is looking very much like Queen Nefertiti at the mo with her minions below her. I didn't know pigs could do a snooty look. Even the boys have stopped showing off.

Good to hear! And yes, some can be very snooty indeed!
