Piggie At Vet

hi guys, my last post was asking if my baby pepé's breathing was okay. you all promptly told me he should be seem by a vet.

we just left petsmart—they happily took him back and gave me a temporary refund. he's currently on his way to see the doctor and they'll keep me updated over phone calls. i'll post the updates here in this post.

they said they're really glad i caught it early, and i asked the likeliness of my little boy surviving. i was told it's generally 50/50, maybe 80/30 because of how early i caught it.

however, when i got there, his whole left eye was crusted shut. i didn't even notice that until the employee pointed it out! my poor baby boy;;

keep my little boy in your thoughts and prayers. he's precious to me.

UPDATE: he came back from the vet! he's still at petsmart, but i called them and got the rundown. sadly, little pepé has pnumonia. they said it developed really quickly and he couldn't fight it off because of his age and his weak ammune system (he's only 4 months old!). thankfully they said it was nothing that i did that caused his illness.

they gave him some shots and told me if he makes it through the night, he should make a full recovery. i'm heading in first thing in the morning to check on him.

please keep praying for him! he's so young and i can't help but feel bad. he has such a long life ahead of him.

UPDATE 2: we're on the way to the pet store! we didn't get a phone call, so we're pretty sure he made it through the night! time to go see my baby and find out what's next.

UPDATE 3: this is a sad one. we got to the pet store and found out we DID recieve a phone call, our cellular service just didn't pick it up. pepé passed away this morning after only being in my life for a week. he was precious, unique and wonderful. thank you for all the prayers. he's over the rainbow bridge now. xx

we did, however, pick up another little boy since we thought we couldn't give up on loving piggies because of one bad happening. we need a name for him. will post photos when he's home and settled.

rest in peace, pepé. you were loved for the short time you were here.

So sorry about Pepe, he was such a handsome boy. Piggies make a place in our hearts so quickly.

I may have missed it on an earlier thread but will your new boy have a piggy companion?

i didn't mention a buddy, but he will be getting one in the following few days! the petsmart were hesitant to sell us 2 with the size cage we got, (i think they were just trying to get us to buy the cage that was $90 more) but we're 90% sure it'll be big enough for the both of them. we're going back in a couple days to get a buddy once they kind of forget about us LOL.

How big is your cage.
The housing thread on the forum can soon tell you if your cage is big enough for 2 boars.
You may want to check the bonding information as well.
I have sows but I believe boars can add years to your age.

and what do you mean by add years to your age? (do you mean cage?)

You will need a bigger cage for two boars. The one you have is very small.

Maybe you could buy a bigger one secondhand?
