I’ve taken my Jamie to various vets in the area for a consultation to check them out. None of which had a vet/nurse well-experienced in guinea pigs. Jamie has recently developed a watery eye and just seems ‘off’ (he’s eating normally but not scoffing as he usually would, poos and urine all seem fine apart from potentially being more smelly).
Can anyone recommend a pig savvy vet as close to Frome (in the SouthWest) as possible? I’m happy to travel a little further out, I just figured that without clear symptoms he may be difficult to diagnose and I really don’t want to cause any more problems with misdiagnosis. I’ve included some pictures of his eye as I could just be overthinking it. I am weighing him twice daily (yes I’m a serious overthinker😂) and it hasn’t fluctuated more than 30g, up and down.

I use the Exotics Department at Highcroft on Wells Road, Bristol are excellent, not too bad a journey for you as on the right side of Bristol. As well as the very experienced head vet Sonia there are two interns at the moment, we've seen them all several times since Christmas and I can't sing their praises high enough. They are quite expensive compared with some others but worth it.
I hope your little one gets well soon. They are in the forums recommended list although the named vets left sometime ago!
Recommended Guinea Pig Vets

Thank you! I got Jamie seen this morning and have been given some Isathal eye drops for him. They checked his eye with some dye and there are no scratches. Vets were lovely and gave me total confidence, thank you so much for your recommendation!

I am pleased you got on well, it's always a bit iffy giving recommendations but I didn't think they'd let me down!
They are very thorough, they found a scratch on Red's eye when I'd taken him for a limp. They always give a really good all over exmination.

Are these okay for weight fluctuations? I’ve been weighing more frequently in case his eye was a sign of something more sinister, just wanted to check! He’s eating and pooing normally.

Yes those look fine.
30-40 grams can be the difference between an empty and full bladder.

As long as his weight isn't consistently going down over time, then some daily fluctuation is normal.
