Hey, just a little idea for people that I've found really useful!
I have just made a large cage/pen for my piggies using the grid/cubes/mesh type things which I have to say are BRILLIANT. I was a bit stuck at finding correx (even though I work in a school, in charge of DT, the pieces are too small and noone seems to have heard of it! ?/
Anyway after reading around abit I have found the ultimate alternative (and I'm sorry if someone has mentioned this before)

Picnic Blankets! The ones with the waterproof backing. I have tried and tested them and found them to be fab!
Cost £7 (cheaper than a large bag of safebed)
tightly woven (no loose threads for piggy chewing)
very easy to clean (due to the tight fibres, not alot gets through!)
absorbant (dries quickly too)
machine washable (and amazingly no nasty hair and hay left in machine, unlike vetbed) and very easily available. I have three which I'm rotating every few days (I dustpan/dustbuster every day) and they also match my living room! result!

Anyway they're widely available, particularly in supermarkets atm as it is almost picnic season (haven't you noticed the rain).
I'd love to know if anyone else has tried and had success with these also :D

Great idea!...I had trouble finding reasonably priced correx too so I have used a cheapo shower curtain as a 'liner' and cover it with bath mats, which I wash weekly and dustpan each day. Again, no nasty bits clogging the washer. I built the c&c as an extension to their Nero cage when it got (very quickly!) too small. I line that part with newspaper and a constant supply of hay.

However, even though they can come and go as they please with the use of the ramp, they generally only come out in the evenings. I have fancy toys and beds in there, yet they like to sit in the cage bit during the day. Bit like children- you buy them a fabulous toy and all they want is the box!

Unfortunately my piggies are camera shy... One blanket for two 'pens'. Typical boys...argue too much together, but depressed when apart!

Excellent idea. I currently have a waterproof tablecloth underneath, then newspaper, then fleece on top. Changed every other day. It's a lot of work, but it's ok. The picnic blanket would be easier...

And my girls have the whole conservatory to play in...but keep mostly to the carpet sections I've put down as they don't like walking on the cold tiles very much!
