Following on from Wiebke's thread, my boy also had his one and only eye removed. I adopted Pickle in February last year following the loss of my gorgeous Snowpig Boris. I had my misgivings about a special needs guy, but Figgy chose him, and what a wonderful job she did!
I was aware he may need his eye removed so it actually survived longer than expected. Auntie Kim was checking it every three months, but I noticed some profound increase in the protruding and the corneal surface was stretching and degrading.
I took him as an urgent appointment yesterday, and Mr and Mrs M both agreed it was the correct time for enucleation.

So much anxiety and many miles in the car, it's all done and Pickle is sleeping over with auntie Debbie for a few nights. I'm so pleased with how smoothly it has panned out. Here's a couple of photos of my favourite little man. His face looks even more smooshy! Here's a before and after...
A sneaky one of his predecessor too, Boris!

Thank you for your kind comments and thoughts. This pigglie is very precious.

Glad that all has gone well for Pickle, too! He is looking very distinguished compared to Meleri! \

I hope that Pickle will also have a very easy and quick recovery.

I’m glad the operation went well and I wish him a good recovery. Tell him he’s still handsome as ever 😍

Glad it all went well. Debbie will look after him. Looking forward to seeing pictures when he gets back home.

He’s gorgeous. Glad the surgery went well and he’s on the mend. Poor little thing. I’m sure you’ll give him extra cuddles when he’s home.

Aw Capt Pickle! Ahoy me heartie 😀
What a gorgeous brave little man he is. Wishing Pickle a speedy recovery, he is in the best of hands with Kim and Simon and Debbie looking after him post op x

Pickle is a very good patient! When we got home I gave him some syringe food and then let him have some time to settle in! I wasn't sure whether he would want to eat his dinner, but he tucked in with gusto! He's very bright and is currently muching hay!

I love running my little post op/dental hospital. I currently have a dental piggy from Portsmouth, a piggy who will be having surgery tomorrow, to remove a mammary tumour and the very gorgeous Pickle! ❤

Just to update, Pirate Pickle has been home for a week. He settled back in with his wifelets surprisingly easily, he seems more assertive! You would never know he is now entirely sightless, he finds his way around with no bother.
Imho he looks even more Smooshy, the op site is healing cleanly and neatly. He is a very, very happy boy! Here's photo graphic evidence of aforementioned smooshyness.
We are so grateful to Auntie Debbie for her nursing care. My boy is my favourite boy pig. ( He may also currently be my only boy pig but I need to be diplomatic! Especially with four girls too! )

Wonderful news and Pickle certainly hasn’t lost any gorgeousness. Well done to both of you x

What a handsome boy he is, even without his eye. So glad he’s settled back at home so well.

I’m so sorry, totally missed your thread and gorgeous Pickle’s recovery but I’m so pleased for you that’s it’s all gone so brilliantly! x

Aw, he’s gorgeous and doing so well 💙 Auntie Debbie is great for post operation recovery. My rainbow boy Ted stayed with Debbie over lockdown so he could continue having regular dentals with Simon, he was there for about 3 months. I missed him great but knew he was in the best of hands x
