Hello !
I'm writing a book on guinea pig care and need photos. It would be wonderful if I could get your help. :)

The book will talk about all the negative things about breeding (don't worry) :-) and it will educate people about the silly stuff that it sold in pet stores too...

I'm focusing on one section at a time so that I am not overloaded. For the second request: I need photos of your cages!

If you have the following photographs you would like in my book please send me an email to: [email protected] not PM

-Open c&c cage

-Closed c&c cage

-Open two level c&c cage

-Closed two level c&c cage

-Other Cool cages! (Doesn't have to be c&c)

-Chloroplast

-C&C grids

-Kitchen area

-Upper level

-Ramp

-Corner curtain plus other fun cage accessories that you have

-Themed cages- if you have photo’s of a cool themed cage – Christmas, Halloween, anything cool!

I also need a clear step by step photo shoot of how to build a c&c cage plus how to cut chloroplast. If anyone is able to do this for me, it would be greatly appreciated!

You’re welcome to send me photos of your guineas in their cage- eating, sleeping and looking cute! :D:lol::love:

I would love to have some colorful, clear photographs of cages and accessories. You are welcome to send me lots of different ones from different angles so that I can choose. Make sure to let me know if you’d like to have your name under your photograph/s as “courtesy of ....” or if you want to be anonymous.

I would also like to add a note that I still haven’t quite got all the photographs that I need for the breeds/varieties identification section: Photos On Different Breeds/colours/varieties Wanted! :-d

Please head over there if you think you have a specific color or breed of guinea pig that could feature in this section. Thanks.

I couldn’t do this without you! Thanks so much for your help! :tu:

Thank you! :woot:

You can send them to [email protected]
Or you can drag and drop them from your desktop when you post a post and they will be attached ;) Can't wait to see those cages

Wow, impressive! That will look awesome in the book!

I'll get some photos of mine this weekend, I have c&c and an alternative, melamine wood and plexiglass one so will try and get a good photo! :)

Yay! I now have pictures of a Princess themed cage! It looks so cool! People are so clever :clap:

I have a home-made cage but I am not sure it would be suitable for your book, as the sides are made from mesh panels from a compost heap that were left behind by the previous owners of our house back in 1992! The point is, if you are looking for something which readers can replicate I don't think you can get these panels any more.

However I could post a photo of how a wire mesh cage sitting on a cupboard can be connected to a run on the floor, and I could also show how a shop-bought cage can be placed inside a run to expand a pig's environment without having to fork out for a new cage :)

Meet Scruffy and Houdini, Friends piggies who I look after when they go on holiday. They are used to running around the kitchen at their home, but here they make-do with a play-pen.
The play pen is a doddle to make though - Correx cut to size and fixed with duck-tape - simple, cheap and good for anyone who wants to upgrade their pig's home without paying for a new cage :)

OK, cage made out of wire mesh and correx. This can be replicated with mesh, wire-cutters, a metal file and something to fix the sides together with. I don't have instructions though. This was the first cage I built and it is shown set-up ready for piggies! If it's no use for your book then I perfectly understand :)

Guinea Pigs and Wedding 002.webp

Extension with ramp made from a piece of drainpipe with plastic garden mesh as covering, to make a tunnel of sorts
And again, the cheapo correx-and-duck-tape- run. So something there may be replicable to someone :)

Thanks critter! You have quite a collection of ornaments on top! As a former member of the STS forum for model animals I'm still interested in figures! :)) You wouldn't believe me if I told you how many I've got hehehe :sly:
Some elements of those pictures I can definitely use!;)

Thanks, they're a pain to dust! Would enjoy seeing photos of your collection :)

I have a website, but it is a bit outdated: Schleich
There are a lot of random pictures which I used to post on the forum  I was surprised to find that it does get a bit of traffic!

Oh they're lovely! I used to work at a pre-school and we bought some of the Schleich African animals for the kids as they are sturdy, hard-wearing and realistic (as you know). They're really very educational. Also bought a farm collection. The kids loved them (and the adults). When I left I bought some of the pet collection to give to the pre-school, including the blue parrot and the guinea pig :) There were also a few dogs, cats and a rabbit or two.
They look great in the display cabinet. I especially like that herd of giraffes you have.

For anyone reading this, they really are wonderful models, I recommend them for kids, but for adults they make genuinely lovely and realistic ornaments. I'd happily have them on my mantel piece :)

Just taken a look back at my 2013 eBay purchase history.
I bought:
Blue Budgie
White Mouse
Golden Retriever Puppy
Golden Retriever
Rabbit Sitting
Rabbit Grooming
Cat Sitting
Cat Standing.
I can't see the piggy on there, I must have ordered that from else where, but I remember that I made sure there was one! :)

There's so many available, it would keep someone collecting for quite some time I think :)

You live in a beautiful place. If you don't mind me asking, do you live on the North Island or South? South maybe (I'm guessing South due to the snow)?

I live in the South Island. Dunedin to be precise! Thank you it is a lovely place! We're lucky where we live as it is very sheltered from the wind. When we get snow it is not much but it is very beautiful. Its great to find another schleich lover! Many people have stopped collecting them and have changed to other brands, due to the cost and lack of quality!
I know someone who claims to have all of them! Some people are really, really dedicated! They buy the exclusives, advent calender's, accessories and new releases the moment they come out! Not to mention excessive hunting for the older rarer ones! I definitely couldn't afford (or have to room) for all that! ;)

Come to think of it, I haven't brought a schleich for a while now :hmm: Thats new for me ;) I've only just managed to keep up with the African collection, but they released some new ones this year which I haven't got yet.

I posted some photos of my C&C cage on here a while back, from when the boys had their 'Strawberry Patch' theme. I bet you could still find the thread if you searched for Strawberry Patch Theme C&C cage or Paddy & Rohan. You are welcome to use those photos of you wish for your project. I'm on my mobile phone at the moment so I can't copy and plaste the photos into here unfortunately.

Thanks! @Kerrie74 They look great!

Found them! :woot: Very cool :)
I looked on your threads on your profile as it didn't come up in the search. I love the Easter and Christmas photo shoots! Any chance I could use those pics for Things-To-Do-With-Your-Piggy section ;)

Yeah of course, use what you like.

There's also a thread called 'Things to do with cardboard' on the enrichment forum that I made a long time ago. It has photos of toys and things that I and others have made for their piggies, you may also want to check that out for your things to do with your piggies. There's some photos of the piggy playhouses that I made on there too I think :)
