I have NO REGRETS getting a friend for Pork (who has lived with us for over a year as a lone pig)... In fact, I regret NOT getting him a friend sooner!

I've never seen Pork so happy - so much purring, so much popcorning, so relaxed and "gurgly" (that lovely sound they make!). He is very "fatherly" with Beans --- licking, preening, in a very gentle way.

BUT ALSO, at the moment, there's a lot of humping, bum-licking (by Pork), jumping over and rubbing bodies --- I guess a natural process in asserting HIS dominance over Beans. Will this ever stop? I do pity the poor mite :...

The following a photos of Beans (a little cream agouti - whatever that means!) and Pork:-

Aww how lovely for Pork and Beansx). I love the names:). I wanted to call one of our pigs Spam but my daughter wouldn't let me:(.

What a cute pair :)

The dominance behaviour will probably stop when Pork is satisfied that Beans knows he is the boss :)) Must be so nice seeing him so happy.

The dominance behaviour should mostly stop eventually, but you will probably continue to see a bit of it most days. Try not to see it as bullying, but as establishing and reaffirming a bond - it works both ways. it is worth putting up with because Pork is so happy and Beans is so cute!

Spam's nice! Someone suggested I get another gp and name him Chips ---making them Pork, Chips and Beans! :))

Thanks for the insight and the link Weibke --- very helpful. I'm trying not to interfere even when I really feel for the wee one... On the whole, it's been SO WORTH IT. And to think I was going to carry one with keeping Pork as a lone gp.

Awww Porkie and Beans what lovely sweet names beautiful photos of the boys too :)

They make a lovely pair, I've recently bonded a baby with an adult boar and they settled down after about a week.

I love the picture of them both at the hay rack and the last picture. From having a lone pig, too having all my pigs with friends I certainly notice the difference!

It's great to see them so happy! xx

They are so cute together and I do love their names!

you're such a kind, encouraging bunch on this forum - THANKS for all your comments & insights xoxo

Aw Beans is so tiny. I love the photo of them both eating out the hay rack, it's like Pork is showing him the ropes.
It's so sweet seeing your piggy get a new friend, they're even more watchable when you see them interacting with each other.
Keep your nerve with the intros though. I know exactly what it's like, I've got three boys together, just when I think they've worked out who's boss someone decides they want to be. It's a lot calmer than a week ago but definately takes some time!

I was going to say the same thing. The hay photo has to be my fave pigture on here so far. I love it. He is definitely showing him what to do. Its like a father and son relationship. Its so cute.
So glad he has a new friend to play and keep him company.
They are both gorgeous.

[*]Keeping my nerve is a challenge! [/*]There has been no chattering and no other sign of "aggression" as far as I can tell (based on the articles on this forum). BUT the amount of humping, circling, bum-licking is overwhelming ME & my husband ! :{

[*]One specific observation[/*]: when we are sitting on the sofa watching them, the humping/circling/rubbing/bum-licking seems to be worse. When we're out of the room (and they think we're not there - but we're peeping through the door), they seem to calm down.

Yesterday, when I entered their cage to do some cleaning, Pork was circling MY BARE FEET, rubbing against them AND EVEN SQUIRTED ME WITH HIS WEE !

[*]Another observation:[/*] Since getting Beans, Pork has been far more courageous and confident --- he has been wandering around our living room, dining room and kitchen with no fear at all; whereas when he was alone, he would only go a few inches and dart back into his cage. Why the sudden courage and adventurous spirit?
