Apologies in advance for what we likely be a long protracted question!
A friend of mine bought 2 females from pets at homerolleyes in June and one has just surprisingly given birth to 2 females and a male inbreeding. The adults are definitely female so i guess it must have been pregnant b4 she bought them.
Anyway...we would have liked to home a pair of the little piggies but my daughters favourite is the male (typical!). I hear it can be very risky introducing non litter companion males and shops only sell them in pairs anyway. So i feel at a dead end there.
I have been racking my brains for a solution and wonder if you guys with experience could advise on this or have any other ideas?!
My thoughts were (yet to be approved by my OH!)- could we take all 3 piggies keeping the male and females in separate accommodation but nextdoor. would this be cruel in any way when the females come into season etc?
We could just take the two females-which would be much more straightforward- but my friend would still be in the same position regarding what to do with the single male.
They are 2 weeks old today and she has been told by the vet that she needs to separate the male at 3 weeks. So we only have a week to sort it out!
Any advice much appreciated. ...
