Just wondering on the temperament of a Peruvian as i've just had Dougie and Cookie in and the difference in their behaviour is alot. Cookie is very active and alert where as Dougie just seems to lay there. His extremely laid back. Snowball was like this but i put that down to him been deaf. I have thought maybe it's because he's shy and young, so has a lot of time to grow in confidence. Is anyone else's Peruvians extremely laid back?

My current three (mum, daughter and auntie) definitely aren't! At least half of the squabbling can be firmly laid at their door, especially when it comes to auntie and daughter!

I have had laid back perus before, so I think it is very much down to the individual character.

Yes that's what i thought. Our sows are very much more 'in your face' compared to the boars. Are boars generally more laid back than sows?

As a rule, yes - but since guinea pigs are such big individualists there are many notable exceptions!

My peruvian was always really quiet until he was put with Harvey then he constantly popcorned all the time in the run. But for lap time he was always very calm and laid back. It comes down to the piggy not the breed though :)
