I'm thinking about giving this Peruvian longhaired guinea pig a home do you think I could look after it it would seriously give me something to go for because I have miss my Guinea pigs and he does want to get rid of them
Any advice on this breed of guinea pigs, thanks

I be going to have a look at them today at 10am so might get the two because he wants them gone !

If you’re going to get another piggy then please do get two. A single piggy is a lonely piggy and if there are two which are currently bonded, then separating then would make them so unhappy.

Don’t forget Peruvians need a lot of hair brushing and hair cutting carried out

I was going to mention that too. Miss Bramble is a texel and I groom her every morning. She hated it at first so I slowly got her used to the comb over a few months. She doesn't mind it so much now but still isn't that keen. She always keeps the top layer untangled its the underlayers that need the work. I am slowly cutting her underlayers back to make it easier for me to groom her. It's a lot of work to keep it tangle free. If you think you can cope with the all the brushing, combing and hair cutting then go for it. Here is my guide to help you.

Have a look, but be prepared to say no if you think the guinea pig will be too much work for you. Don't let your health suffer because of getting a new pet though .

Is it the two or more guineas you're looking at? Gemma's right that guineas need a companion really, they're very sociable animals

Were your guineas long haired before? - sorry I can't remember what they looked like.

Are you happy with/have access to your local vets?
Have you got a vet fund ready & waiting -just in case the person wants to get rid of them to save him taking them to a vets for treatment?
(Try & find out his reason for wanting to get rid of them, check he's not just a breeder wanting to get rid of excess/ill stock, etc?)

I'm guessing you still have some of your old guinea pigs things, so that would save you buying new (if he really wants to get rid of them so badly & if you're having them, get him to put in food ,bedding, housing, hay ,etc for nothing or as little as possible too -if you need or want it.
Don't let him make any profit it sounds like you're going to be doing him a favour if you have them.

If I remember rightly it's you that's done the dog grooming course isn't it?
Sounds like a Peruvian hairstyle would be ideal for you to practice & perfect your grooming skills with  but they do need a lot of brushing, teasing out little knots/Matt's & summer bum trims so they don't get wet tangled & smelly hair.

Let us know how you get on & if you do take the plunge again....we'll need photos! 📸 :D

That's why I had him to practice my dog grooming on , don't tell him and I miss the Guinea pig cuddles

He 4 months 4 days old
Lady said all the others was sold so I only had him to choose, he will be alright when settled in

I can't do anything about this because he was the last guinea pig he will be fine lots of cuddles etc spoilt him rotten and

Sorry Jayne but no amount of cuddles will make up for him having a friend. He really is too young to live the rest of his life on his own.Have you got any rescues nearby?

:agr:
He won’t be fine to spend his life alone. Human companionship is never enough. You have committed to meeting all his welfare needs and that includes giving him a friend as it is just as important as having the right diet and housing.

It doesn’t matter that he was the last one - you can still get him a friend by speaking to a rescue centre and finding a suitable companion for him. If you really can’t get a rescue then there is always the option to buy a companion for him.

He really cant be alone for his whole life, it isn’t fair on him.

How about this older boy, he'd be able to show your new fur baby the ropes &they'd both have companionship of other guineas?
Look on the bright side @jayne a good excuse to get a second piggy & making 2 lonely boys happy?
I'm sure @breakawayfromme would take him back if they don't get on at the outset, she wants the best for her boy &is looking for company for him.
Not sure if it would be too far to travel though? Xx
