Hiya, I rent and my landlord hates rodents! Currently my piggies live outside but I am so worried about them! My landlord hates rodents because she had a bad experience with wild mice in her flat. She lives abroad so I could not invite her round to see the piggies! I was thinking maybe send her a cute photo of the piggies and say that they would create no mess and be no trouble. Also I was thinking someone from the estate agents could come round every week or so to report back and if getting too messy for their liking the guinea pigs could go straight back outside? Please help if you have had a similar experience or have some words that could put in the email!
:help:

I think because the landlord owns the flat it is all down to her decision, I guess it would be hard to convince her.
I have no advice really except try and show her you'd keep the flat clean.

Do you know anyone in your area who has piggies indoors? If so, perhaps you could take pictures of them and their cage to email to your landlady to show her how clean piggies are. Or maybe get a piggie-keeping friend to email her about what is involved in piggie care and how easy it is to keep their environment clean. Explain to her that piggies can be house-trained. I've done it myself. They are not like wild mice, pee-ing where-ever they go!

Thanks a lot for the tips, I Polly and Rosie (member on here) lives on my road so I will ask if I can take some pics of their 140 cage! Maybe I can ask them to send an email to my landlady and hopefully that will convince her! I can't believe that some people don't like guinea pigs, they are so cute when they squeak and popcorn!

I rent, my landlord is hard going when it comes to the house but he was fine about me having my boys in the house even though I don't think he's a big fan of pets himself. I'm looking at moving asap and making sure the house and garden is ok for my children and piggies were at the forefront of my mind as I veiwed the house a grassed garden, a garage and a patio were my must haves for my boys. Ive told her about my piggies and she's fine that I have them so I know how you must be feeling as I would of been so upset if my landlords didn't understand that piggies are not messy (if they are cared for well) I think asking yours and sending her pictures is a good idea explain that they don't make a messy :) good luck
