Personality differences

It's generally said that boars are more chilled out and cuddly, but it does depend very much on the pig's individual personality. Plenty of boars have a grumpy streak and aren't the slightest bit cuddly, plenty of sows love some lap time. I've only kept boars myself so far, but I've had a categorically UN-chilled one with Picchu!

Our two boars are definately more laid back and cuddly that our four girls.
If you give them laptime they tend to just lie there enjoying some love whereas the girls fidget and are much noisier.

I think it just comes down to the piggie! They each have their own personalities and that's why I love them so much :)

I agree, definitely the individual piggy!

I have had two boys who are very laid back and a little aloof...'you can cuddle me but you'd better make sure you give me the treats first' sort of attitude! Years ago I had a pair of boars who were just adorable, and very affectionate. All were chilled though and never 'scatty' which I think sows can be.

Sows I find tend to be either end of the scale, some very fidgety and low attention span and others who can be incredibly loving, cuddly and generally want the company of humans, even in preference to food. So like others have said, I think its more the individual than then gender...
