Hi! I have two boars. Patches and Carmal. I posted another thread about this, but it has not gotten better. I’m really worried. I live in the US, so I would not be able to get fibreplex. He does not have diarrhea but both of their poops are soft. I have not taken them to the vet, since my parents want to just wait it out. If I have to take them to the vet I would be willing to spend my own money. I’ve taken them off veggies as suggested before. They’ve been off veggies for a month I believe, due to their soft stools. I have a trusted vet that I am willing to take them to. The last time I checked, Carmal was 1 lbs. and 6 oz. (624 grams). Patches was 2 lbs. (907 grams). They’ve also stopped eating their pellets, so I’m worried about them getting enough to eat. They are taking one oxbow vitamin c tablet daily. They also take one oxbow digestive tablet. I’m pretty sure they get enough vitamin c. They are still eating. If anyone has had this experience or has advice please answer! I don’t know what to do!:soz:

Thank you in advance!

If they were mine and a vet wasnt an immediate option, I would get them onto critical care to replace the nutrition not being received from pellets or veggies, the extra water that this will give them should help any issues with minor dehydration that having soft poops for an extended period of time will cause. As you're in the US, I believe Fibreplex is hit or miss as to whether you can get it on Amazon, if it's currently unavailable, you have the option of Benebac which is a really good probiotic, it's really important a piggy with soft poops gets probiotics as some of the good bacteria gets flushed out, Benebac will replace this and help your piggy digest food normally again, hopefully firming up the poops again. The dose should be on the benebac tube I think, but not being from the US ive never seen a tube in person, if not you want to give a pea sized blob (0.1-0.2ml) per day for a few days.

If this doesn't work, the soft poops could be due to a bacterial infection which will require antibiotics, in which case a vet visit will be necessary unfortunately as it wont get better on it's own.

Would I put them on both critical care and benbac? I don’t have either. It would take about 2 days for me to get it. If they were your piggies would you take them to the vet.

Yes if both have soft poops id give both critical care and benebac. If they were mine then yes id take them in, just to be safe, chances are you'll be able to get the critical care and probiotics from the vet too if you ask for them so you'll be able to get them quicker than from ordering them online if your vet is able to see you quickly.

I’ll talk to my parents again about taking them to the vet. Maybe knowing that we will have to spend money either way will help! If I’m not able to take them to the vet I will most definitely get critical care and benebec. Thank you for the help!
