Okay, this is the hutch that my three (soon to be five) girls are in:

Apologies for the icky wee stains... that's the result of having a male bunny in there previously, I can assure you it's been scrubbed to within an inch of it's life, but that rabbit had lethal wee!

We're planning on attatching a rather large permanent run to the side to more than double the floor space that they currently have.

If we make the run more like a hutch (with sheltered roof, two sheet wood sides rather than wire and a wire fronted front), how many pigs do you think we would be able to safely house in there? I'm aiming for the run to be at least 2 x 1/1.5 meters. If I were to house a larger herd in there, I'd probably be tempted to make this hutch a large bedding area, rather than your typical hutch.

Update: I drew up a few ideas for the daddy-one to look at, and I've come up with something that will be 2 meters long, 80 centimeters deep (though depending on what the woodyard can do for us, I may order 1meter deep, but I'm working on 80cm at the moment for this. It'll be 50cm high - with an 80cm square platform that I can put some food or some nice little cushions or something on, an extra bedding box underneath that and a ramp up.

Floor space, the total thing would come to 2.6sq meters or 27sq feet. If I get it to 1m deep, that'll go to 3.2 sq meters or 34 square feet.

How many pigs would I be able to house in this (both sizes)?

Oh wow, I'll have almost triple the recommended space for 4 guinea pigs. So if we say 10, do you think that's reasonable? Just want to see if I have space to rehome a couple more in the future!

Would 9 girls and 1 neutered boy be a nice herd size? I do have the option to take pairs out if necessary.
