Hi! So I have two boy guinea pigs that I’ve had for about a year now and would like to get them a new cage as they are getting older now! I was looking at the bluebell hutch from pets at home, but then I was worried that the ramp is a bit too steep? My pigs live outside by the way! Can anyone recommend any hutches ( single level or double) that would be a great home for them! Also with the bluebell hutch, what would you recommend to do with the ramp? Thank you!x

Hi and welcome to the forum. A few of us with outdoor piggies used the chartwell hutches. I know myself, @Betsy and @eileen all have the chartwell 6ft 2 storey hutches. The best thing is you can get an insulating cover and weatherproof cover which helps keep the hutch a better temperature during summer and winter (overheating in summer is just as bad as getting cold in winter). I made some adjustments to my ramp adding a side to the exposed part and some carpet so that it helps with grip and feeling secure using it

I have the bluebell from pets at home. My two don’t find the ramp too steep at all, they manage perfectly fine. However, I would not recommend it for being outside. The wood is so thin and I don’t think it would last at all well if it was outside. Mine is in my shed where my boys live permanently so the hutch isn’t exposed to the elements.
You need something with very good solid wood. Chartwell hutches are great for being outside.

Ok thank you for your advice! I will go have a look now!
My piggies and I love the Chartwell 6ft 2 Storey hutch they live in. It is well made and good quality. I would recommend it.
