peppers red or green

i have noticed that my pair will not touch red peppers but i have started giving them green and that seems to be getting eaten . i eat red and green there is no diff in flavour so i wonder if its the colour but i thought guinea pigs only saw in black/white lol
 
mine are not keen on peppers at all

red, green, yellow or orange

they love lettuice and carrots

will try anything else but prefer lettuice

oh and fresh grass

go mad for that
 
They taste a little bit different; just feed them green pepper then!
 
I think they taste different.

My piggies and buns go mad for any colour.
 
Green is by far the most popular colour of pepper, I have heard many cases of pigs who will only eat green! There are subtle differences in taste in each colour.
 
That's funny because green peppers have the lowest amount of fructose.

Have you ever tried yellow pepper? Mine love it and it has the highest amount of vitamin c of all peppers.
 
Mine will not eat the green but love the red ......... I must have fussy piggies rolleyes I am going to try the yellow today :)
 
Red has the highest level of Vit C - 192mg per 100g of pepper. Green has 80mg per 100g. Interestingly, the colour and sweetness of the peppers relate to the maturity of them. A red pepper is simply a more matured green pepper, thus is sweeter.

Still just a small slice of green pepper will fulfill a guinea pigs daily Vitamin C needs, which is one reason pepper is a staple of so many piggie veggie diets.
 
mine all love peppers of any colour. When I get a bag they get the green ones first as they are the only ones I will not eat as I find them too bitter. they get yellow ones next and then red if I haven't eaten them all :)) They are lucky monkies this week though as red are on offer at 20p each at lidl so they are getting red ones all next week.

I don't think mine can tell the difference though to be honest
 
My girls have been bought up on red peppers, but when i sent OH shopping he came back with green rolleyesmallethead but they just went on and munched it anyways :(|)
I sometimes use yellow in recipes so i'll have to try it out on them next time, thanks Katinchen i will try it xx>>>
 
My girlies love green & red pepper :) however my mums boys have had a nibble on some red, left it in there over night to see wether they go back to it :)
 
After seeing this thread...i went and bought Green peppers...they love them. Will try another color next week with the girls
 
Ive tried red/green and yellow with my girls and they prefer the green. They didnt even touch the red. Am i just making this up in my head or have i actually seen orange peppers somewhere? :{
 
orange ones better exist or i am growing "virtual" peppers on my windowsill
 
Mine eat all peppers (they eat pretty much anything), but love red peppers before green and then yellow.
 
I have orange at the moment and they are eating them (some of them)
 
will try them only tried red and green and red no no green yes yum yum thanx for every ones replys and will try orange i have seen those our lidl got fresh sweetcorn with silks and leaves 24p but box empty when i got in
 
just going down lidls now to see if any corn was ment to be out today monday 10th but ours put it out earlier 24p
