Hello Everyone! My 1.5 year old sow has been having some trouble with very mild pododermatitis that doesn't seem to want to completely heal. In early december, she had a health check where I was first alerted to the issue. Again, the vet said it was very mild- just a little redness on the hind feet pads and a bit of cracking. The vet suggested making sure she maintained a healthy weight (she was a little overweight at the time) and adding some CareFresh bedding to some parts of the cage (they are housed on fleece liners). After about a month and a half, she is now a healthy weight and I changed the set up of the litter box so that half of it is CareFresh for them to soil and half is a large hay pile. I added pads to spots they typically soil and am sure to change them out when they are wet.
I have also been doing a chlorhexidine wipe and a very small amount of vaseline on the hind feet for about two weeks now (vet approved). While it is looking much better, and she isn't bunny hopping as much and is so much more active, there is still redness that I cannot seem to treat. Does anyone have any ideas? The vet is very busy and I cannot get her in again for almost two months. She is a happy pig but I want her to be the happiest and healthiest possible :)

these were the best photos I could get of her feet.. guinea pigs are hard to photograph and my phone did not want to focus on her little feet!

Hi

The colour of the feet reacts to room temperature.
Also consider whether you are using too much soap/washing powder for any fabric bedding.

But it is not worrying as it is since foot infection (bumblefoot) is a reddish/hot dot in the very early stages that is not there on the other side. The bugs that cause it (which is a whole range) get into the skin via a tiny crack. Overtreating with cream can actually make them more prone to it because of the softened skin.
